So I started Low Dose Naltrexone about a week ago. My LLMD gave me 1 mg to start and said that since I am so sensitive I can open up the cap and pour half out and take half of that at bedtime until I can work up to a dose he is comfortable with.

Well with even this tiny amount (0.5mg)I am having awful vivid dreams. They are frightening and even violent. I will nod off, have a dream and then am up for another hour. Not sleeping well at all. Sleep has always been an issue but worse now.

Why the horrific dreams?? It's just terrible. It's haunting and the dreams stay with me through the next day as well.

Maybe it's not a good drug for me? [confused]

What causes this?

Thanks guys!

Yes, it is known that some have this.

Just switch to morning dosing for a while.

It just goes away with time.

Check the LDN forums.

Almost everybody gets vivid dreams and many people like this side effect, but some get them too strong.

My doctor wanted to have me on LDN as well and he talked about 0.4.

Anyone know why this happens? Nausea seems to be worse too...

I have had very vivid dreams, but they are not bad dreams or nightmares. I suppose LDN enhances whatever kind of dream you are having, good or bad.

The dream thing does go away after a few weeks. I liked the dream part, but I am sure I would have felt differently if they were nightmares.

Since LDN ramps up the immune system, any pathogen in your intestinal tract will likely also be affected. The destruction of these pathogens could cause nausea, but that should clear with time also. If it does not, possibly the LDN itself is causing it. I take capsule form but have not had any nausea problem.

I do not have Lyme so the reaction may be related to the disease and the use of LDN.

4.5 MG is the standard dose, but it can vary slightly for different people.
