Two of my children, 21 and 20, have terrible insomnia. Anyone know if this is part of the disease or the meds? Son is on 1000mg clarithromycin and daughter is on 2gm IV rocephin and mepron. One has terrible herxs and the other is breezing though it all. I have no trouble sleeping, in fact just the opposite. I am on 2 gm IV rocephin and clarithromycin. Thanks

My son has insomnia as well. We give him a product called Bio-Nite by Biometics. It is quite safe, contains chamomile, valerian root,and melatonin. It really helps him to get to sleep at night.

Just give two dropper-fulls in a small cup of water before bed.

Mds had tried pharmaceuticals with all kinds of side effects that didn't work as well as those drops.

He is on no meds at the present time, just supplements.

The hylands products like calms forte and the other one for sleep have been good for my kid. The insomnia cycle stopped after a few months of treatment.

My LLMD says that her patients are in two camps. The sleepers and the no sleeper. I'm a sleeper. So is my little guy. My teenager is my insomniac. It got better, but sometimes he just takes the homeopathic products and it is good.

My son had trouble sleeping for a couple of months then our LLMD started him on magnesium supplements and within a few nights he was falling asleep quicker and sleeping through the night.

This is a very common symptom of LD!

I am from the camp of insomniacs. I have tried all kinds of sleep aids; but nothing really works.

After 2 years of treatment it is somewhat better. I use to only sleep 3 hours a night, now I sleep 6 or 7 hours. It is broken sleep, but its better than it use to be.

Puritan's Pride Super Snooze has worked well for my 14 year old, or we have to give him about 10 mg of Melatonin. He and I are the severe insomniacs in the family. We need to be knocked on the head with a hammer to sleep.

My husband and 20 year old go out like a light. All four of us have Lyme. I take 150 mg of Seroquel and 30 mg of Temazepam, and most nights STILL can't fall asleep for hours.

My son has had severe insomnia for over a year. I have it too but not as bad as him. Though I have to stay up with him because all of his lyme symptoms appear at night.

We have tried a lot of herbs (passion flower, hops, valerian root, chamomile, etc). Also tried 1 prescription (can't remember the name) but he still couldn't sleep and was walking around my house drugged and confused. Was worried he would fall down the steps. Never tried that one again. I think he is sensitive to meds.

Also thought it might be one of his abx so switched those and no luck.

It's actually getting worse. Used to be he could fall asleep by 3am..then 5am and now last night it was 8am! He currently can not attend school and this is his main reason why.

The llmd gave us 5mg of valium to try but I am very skeptical of using this addicted drug. We prefer herbs anyways.

What are some natural products that have worked for others and how do you know what dosage to give? I wonder if I don't give him enough? Because he is 11 but weighs like 130 lbs.

I had terrible insomnia while on IV Rocephin. I would lay in bed and stare at the ceiling for hours.

While on the clarithromycin, I didn't notice the insomnia as much as I did the nightmares.

Hope they get some sleep [Smile] Ativan worked for me.

Allergies, insomnia, strokes...all of these are on the rise in young people, and some researchers believe cell phone tower radiation is to blame.

You might want to google this for yourself...and maybe EMF Refugee's website...

Two of my kids had insomnia as a symptom. One would jump in his crib almost every night for two hours from 2 to 4 am. I knew it wasn't normal and finally figured out it was lyme.

About 6 to 8 months into treatment the insomnia finally went away. He was on treatment for lyme, bart and babs, so it is hard to know which infection was causing it.

I live in both camps. =/ It takes either 36-48hrs of being awake or 1mg of xanax and 100-150mg of trazodone to get me to sleep.

Once I AM asleep though, nothing can wake me up (w/ or w/out taking the meds) for at least 12hr and most of the time it is closer to 16hr, sometimes more.

LLMD worked me up to 150mg of the trazodone and when that still wasn't doing the trick he suggested a rubber mallet. I asked about xanax, and thankfully it has worked. It doesn't work by itself, though. I have to have both.

My son took trazodone and it turned him into a walking zombie. He was drugged but awake. I was concerned he would fall down the steps. He's very sensitive to meds. So we use alot of herbs.

Be sure that you do not use any fluoride toothpaste or any other way.

Fluoride harms the pineal gland which is the commander for sleep.

No computer - no plugged in equipment in room. No electric alarm block. Pull the fuses into bedroom at night. Poor sleep can be caused by a combination of many things -- .
no cell phones. No i-pods. Learn about EMF exposure, cell phone use, etc. Change location of bed - facing different direction. Head toward north is best.

I used to be up half the night. No I put my head on pillow and am out straight for 7-8 hours. If wakefulness around 11 P - 3 AM - pay attention to gallbladder and liver with extra support.

Time for me to go to sleep now.
