I just bought a sauna for my home and love it. But I'm wondering if, in addition to sweating out toxins, you could potentially sweat out antibiotics?
Do you think daily sauna sessions for 30-45 min each could potentially get rid of the bad stuff, but also get rid of the good stuff too? Abx, vitamins, etc?
I don't want to be doing more harm than good, but I feel so much better from doing it.

My LLMD wanted me taking a daily sauna. He said to supplement minerals because just as metals and toxins are pulled out, so are minerals, but he said nothing about abx being pulled out.

If you are considering buying one, I can provide you with the info on where I got it. I LOVE mine so far and it came very fast (within 2 wks) and was not broken at all.
I just hope it's doing as much good as I feel like it is, and not just sucking all of the abx out of me

Mine actually came with a "Golden Designs" logo on it, so I'm checking with the guy to see if they sent me the right one, but right now I don't really care because it works wonderfully.
If you tell them you saw it on amazon for $1149, they will match the price. I didn't go with amazon b/c I didn't understand how they would ship it and I had to make sure they wouldn't just drop it off at my apt office.
ifitness direct will bring it upstairs if you need them to, but they charge like an extra $150 or something. If you have someone to help you, you can take the pieces out of the box and carry them upstairs. The front panel with the door is the heaviest part. It takes 2 or more people to assemble as well.
So far... I don't want to jinx it... but this seems to be one of the best purchases I have ever made. I sweat like crazy and feel so much relief from toxins. Relief that I didn't realize I could have after the nightmarish past 3 years. I can take more abx now than I have ever been able to tolerate before. I am praying that this lasts!!
This sauna has truly been such a blessing to me. I know it is expensive and I will definitely keep you posted on whether this keeps helping me. There are some less expensive, more portable saunas online too, and I would consider those for ppl who can't spend this much money or don't have much room, although I haven't tried them so can't say if they work well or not.
Also, the saunas with ceramic heaters are a bit less expensive and prior to purchasing this I was going to a spa type place that had a sauna with ceramic heaters, and I still think it did an awesome job. I have heard that the carbon heaters are better though and can penetrate deeper into the skin, so if you have the money and are just looking for the best type out there, go with carbon. It was hard for me to discover the difference online, so just fyi the carbon are supposed to heat more evenly and penetrate the body more, although honestly I don't know if you'd really be able to tell much difference.

I have a Sunlight Sauna. I've had it since before diagnosis, but thanks for the recommendation. I love my sauna, too!! I still use it even though I'm in remission. I think our battle with toxins is never-ending and I think it will take years to detox all the toxins from Lyme and treatment.

I have MCS and we are also doing heavy metal chelation. We have been looking at buying a FIR sauna for our family.
Can anyone who has one tell me the best ones to get that don't give off a chemical smell?
We got the tent-kind a while back and aired it out, but it got moldy anyway, so we had to get rid of it. Has anyone had issues with mold?
I don't know the answer to the abx question above. The md we are working with on detox did say the FIR saunas are very good at pulling out chemicals.
Would that include abx? Most of the folks on lymenet who have used them, many I'm sure are on abx, have gotten very good results from them.
Sixgoofy is right; I think detox will always be and issue for us.

I bought a used Suanatec over a year ago. It has not given off any smells except actual wood.
I now can sweat again and am just starting to have a little BO with it. Never thought I would consider body odor a good thing!

The one I have only smells like wood too. Don't see mold becoming an issue in a wooden one. It gets up to 140+ degrees easily so I think it dries out very quickly.

VB - My LLMD has encouraged me to get a FIR sauna. I'm sure he would be aware of any problems with abx potency and FIR sauna's. I have never seen a warning of any kind to indicate that medication potency is an issue. You will lose electrolytes just as anyone does when they sweat.
FIR sauna causes sweating and loss of chemicals and toxins from the fat. You will sweat out residual chemicals that you don't want after drugs have already been processed and the toxins stored in your fat but I do not believe that FIR sauna would cause any issues with potency of abx. That is my understanding but please ask your doctor.

These are the 2 non-toxic sauna's that I know of but there are probably more. Both are made of poplar and non-toxic glue. Heavenly heat does not add stereo equiment which I believe when heated to high temps, would be another source of toxins.

Good points Terry - releases what is stored in fat. Parts of antibiotics may be stored in fat after they are used + the body tries to get rid of them.
Have never heard of FIS making the liver detox things more quickly or more effectively. And since the ABX (antibiotics) are taken daily it probably is not a concern.
