Need some help with advice. New to this. My brother was feeling awful (panic attacks, insomnia, depression) found out doctor didn't contact him 1.5 ago that he had Lyme. Found a llmd and started cefuroxime axetil (?) almost a month ago and last week found out he has Babesia. Started mepron and 4 days later ugly ugly thoughts in depression. Had to stop it today waiting for doctor to contact us about next step. Should we do artemisinin or would we have the same results? was it a good thing (although dreadful) that he responded to the mepron? (no reaction from the abx)Have to figure out something to do about the depression... too much. Thanks for any help. When I know more I hope to return the favor and help someone else.

I would suspect you would have the same reaction with artemisinin... as these sound like herxheimer rxn.

No! Depression is a frequent side-effect of Mepron! There is a "sticky" on one of the top threads under Medical Questions. Look it up.
And, your brother needs to speak with his doctor about what to do next, maybe change meds, and/ or add an antidepressant.
He could also come on Lymenet for support, if he wants. It helps a lot. It's good that you are supporting him.
