I was treated for lyme in 2004.. took not quite two years to feel 'normal' again... after 4 months of abt use.

I haven't been feeling all that great lately, so went to the doc and asked for a lyme test... and... you guessed it - positive for an active infection.

Started doxy tonight - a bit nervous about the whole thing...

My symptoms have been fatigue, neurological and psychological. No arthritis....

Anyway - I can't seem to remember much... Forgetful all the time. Forget conversations. Mood swings..

Anyone have any thoughts or advice to offer?

Make sure you have a good LLMD and treat it for good this time! I have many of the same symptoms.

I hate it for you - it sucks bad enough the first time. Getting hit a second time is bad too, but at least we know what we have to do to deal with it.

What did you take in 2004? 4 months of treatment is not very long. Be sure to zap it right this time!

Sorry about your news. We're here for ya [Smile]

I relapsed a few times too. At least, you are not a newbie, you know you got to treat. Things can go back to normal once the load of infections fall.

With treatment, if you are not that bad as many here, your memory will probably improve.

I'm now again on remission, crossing fingers not to relapse again!

You are not alone, many here have been there! Don't get discouraged!

Why doesn't everyone that has gone into remission stay on maintenance doses? Given that some people relapse even yrs after remission, that would just make sense.

Some say if you are going to relapse it will be within 3 or 4 months. Years later could just simply be reinfection.

I personally wouldn't want to take a maintenance dose if I was truly lyme free.

If I relapse within a few months, I would go full force back into lyme treatment. If I went several months off antibioitics symptom free, I would feel that I was cured and no need for antibiotics.
