Have been taking 300mg a day of Doryx for the past week and added 2 nystatin tabs 2xday.
My tongue, which has been white and kind of rough has not improved since I started a week ago.
I am on a strict no yeast diet(veggies, chicken, brown rice, quinoa, small amount of berries or green apple). I also rinse my mouth with a little diluted hydrogen peroxide and water before brushing but nothing seems to help.
How long does nystatin take to begin working?
Thanks for your help.

I have this too..always have. Maybe up the nystatin (I take 4 pills / day) and up the probiotics. Probiotics will kill yeast too.

can you not get nystatin powder. I mix this with natural yoghurt then swill it around my mouth before swallowing. Seems to work well for me.

My LLMD had me on six tablets of Nystatin to prevent yeast.
How about adding coconut oil? It has acids that kill yeast. I believe oregano oil (not oregano) and GSE also help.

Thank you all for your responses.
I called my llmd today and when he heard that I had a coated tongue he told me to stop doryx and ordered clotrimazole troche (mycelex) for 14 days and Diflucan 200mg for 7 days and I am also to continue taking nystatin 2 tabs 2xday.
Do you think this is too much?

Your doctor knows you best. Posted by littlebit27 (Member # 24477) on :
Don't know about the rest of the meds but I take 2 nystatin tablets 3 X a day. So 6 tablets total in a day. I was on doxy, but have stopped per LLMD and am starting amoxy/probe on Tuesday.
