Despite reading many posts on FIR saunas, can't seem to find one that states the appropriate temperature (or range) the sauna should be set to for Lyme detox. If anyone knows, would really appreciate a response.

I do not think there are any official figures.

And it may also depend on the type + brand + how specific brands are designed + built.

I was fortunate enough to have access mostly to Sunlight Saunas Solo (single liedown) + some of Sunlights' 3 person sitdown.

You can set timers on them to preheat to certain temps. For me I liked both models. I felt in the sitdowns 135 - 140 degrees was my maximum.

The liedown had numbers up to 9 to indicate the heat, but did not have temp in degrees used.

Found that when I cranked it up high I sweated LESS ! I did well on number 7.

the temp of 115 degrees is recommended for best effects...although you may not feel it is doing much at that temp...and be tempted to go higher because it will not feel real hot...115 is the best I believe.

Otherwise, I found that I dehdrated internally very quickly...and my organs were not happy a day to three days after the sauna....when I went to higher temps...i used to do 150 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes...which was said to be the max in my sunlight sauna....

Doing the max is not as beneficial as doing the optimum....it took me a while to understand this.

Also, do not do this each day...possibly only 1 to 2 times a week....and sometimes give it a month break...

When you are moving metals...(via cilantro...or the Bioray NDF product) it is not good to use a sauna, as it will move them into areas you do not want them to go...YOu do not want metals moving through skin...but want them coming out held in binders through your liver...(stool)...for example...

so know what type of detox you are doing when you use the FIR sauna...I have learned this the hard way. Ask for advice from those who knoiw about this...check out past posts on the FIR sauna and you will gain wisdom.

What i read on another Lyme site that talked about FIR (can't remember the site) is that more sweat is not necessarily better. The most important thing is the length of time you spend under the FIR rays. (so this site claims)

The rays are detoxing themselves....lots of sweat isn't necessary.

You are going after the fat-soluble toxins in the fatty layer under the skin, not water-soluble toxins.

So I would just turn it down pretty low and try to stay in there longer. But I still like to sweat some too, so sometimes I'll do it high and then drop it down low.

I'm confused about the heavy metals comment. I have always read that FIR saunas are a good way to remove heavy metals so I am confused??

I found this quote online where even Dr. Klinghardt uses FIR sauna WITH DMPS...

Can someone clarify all this for me? I am thinking about trying out a FIR sauna at a spa near me but I am taking NDF Plus. I don't think heavy metals are big problem for me but then again we haven't tested for them. We are just using some heavy metal detox in my treatment just in case.

Pam I am not sure if there are any conflicts.

Perhaps on Tuesday you could call some of the manufacturere to get your questions cleared up ?

Dr. K. always uses plenty of chlorella when using any heavy metal removal agent...this is his recommendation. HE also recommends to be tested to see if using a FIR sauna is good for the now and present moment with your current condition!

Moving metals can be dangerous! Although there is a place and time to do this...I am just saying, to use caution to the novices.

He also says exactly what I said above...that FIR is good , but is not always advisable...it is not an every day thing. IT is used when needed...and will move metals...but you should use it to move the metals when you are able to catch them...when you are taking binders, knowingly that you are intentionally moving metals. not move them out your skin...but out your "poop" which is his word. IT goes out the "poop" when binders like chlorella, apple pectin, etc are added.

Other toxins are fine to be sweated out...but metals will accumulate in your connective tissue and most likely recirculate at a later time if not sent via the liver...

Lighttparfait, this is interesting for me.
What kind of bad experience did you have?

I'm asking, because I was in the FIR-Sauna only twice, and felt very good while sweating. But the days after were not good at all. Everything felt upside down, I was exhausted and my kidneys did hurt.

I am still wondering, why this happened, because I never made a comparable experience with a regular sauna.

kadee, you probably released toxins that could not get out of your body so they made you tired and stressed your kidneys.

Did you shower within 30 minutes after the FIR ?
I was taught that it is necessary to wash off toxins or they will go back in through the skin.

Thanks for clarifying this for me! I just wanted to make sure if I try the sauna that I am not doing myself any harm. I am taking lots of detox stuff...including chlorella.

I will definitely make sure to look into this more before trying the sauna.

I did shower directly after sweating.
But I sweated a pretty long time (20 minutes).
That seems to be a lot more effective compared to the regular sauna, also in terms of the later following sideeffects.

MOst likely you were not hydrated enough for the amount of time you were in the sauna...this has been my personal experience. I would feel great immediately during and after and sweat for a good 20 minutes afterward. At the time it was good...but the nexdt day and days after I had my kidney and liver hurting...and noticed my lymphs started to swell...and I was bloated....and having fluid build up in my tissues.

The sauna sometimes has this effect on me if I did not hydrate well enough in advance (days in advance to prepare) with electrolytes...and adding minerals to my body.

When I prepare and take "selectrolytes" as I am currently using the MOrin labs brand...(others are good too, like Biopure's electrolytes) and when I daily add a liquid mineral...like Intramin or Matrix minerals, then I do tremendously better and have no shut down of my kidneys.

When they did shut down in the past, I had to use some Renelex...by Pekana for kideny support. and then some milk thistle to heal and normalize my urinary functin again. Also I had become constipated with the dehydration...

So know y our own body...anddo not over due with the temp or time in the FIR Sauna...and do hydrate and prepare withtaking liquid minerals....get your body balance back then the FIR will do wonders....just my opinion.

Also to emphasize...the more water you take and the more chlorella (binders)you use, the more of your minerals will be flushed out as well. Especially if you use mostly just water or lemon water during detox....you will lose minerals.

So you must replace them after you use the sauna and replace the electrolytes.
