I also have a itchy throat. Yeast? I'm taking pro-biotics, nystatin for yeast for Levaquin.

Has anyone ever had this?

Dear alextaylor14,
I have had this as well. It may be allergies. If you suffer from post-nasal drip, that could be the cause. I also have Candida, but it usually is white. Do you wake up with a bad taste in your mouth and your tongue coated?

Sincerely,
Jin

A yellow, coated tongue [and post -nasal- drip] has been a common experience for me with this illness: I don't know what causes it, but I suspect that it is chemical -release-related [eg metals, allergies].

Candida/yeast makes it worse, of course. Sorry I can't suggest anything, other than use a toothbrush with a tongue- cleaner part and take measures to keep yeast down and 'bind' stuff released [eg chlorella, clay etc],

I've had the black furry tongue. My doctor said that it was most likely fungal overgrowth. Nystatin liquid and mycelex troches did not clear it.

It started to get better when I switched back to my old favorite mouth wash. Try the Jason brand "Healthy Mouth" mouthwash.

check it out here: http://www.iherb.com/Jason-Natural-Healthy-Mouth-Tea-Tree-Cinnamon-16-fl-oz-473-ml/6225?at=0

It is made with natural oils that work well together to fight bacterial and fungal overgrowth. And it does not dry your mouth out or make it burn like regular mouth wash will.

Take note that this mouth wash is concentrated. You are supposed to add a little water with each dose. Saves you money and makes the bottle last longer!

So, after you brush your teeth twice daily, try swishing and gargling Jason Healthy Mouth mouthwash. Then scrub your tongue with a tongue scraper or a plain flat toothbrush. You want to scrub off all the yucky stuff that has accumulated.

It may take a couple days for your tongue to look normal again.

Jin- Yes I have the bad taste and it doesnt matter how many times I brush my teeth.

Sammy- Thanks. I will definitely give it a try.

UK Carry- Yeah it seems to have started when I started antibiotics

I heard it was a strong indication for liver disease(I am only 26, I dont know if that matters)......

So these responses are a little more encouraging..lol.

Anyone know if Humaworm might help this and can be taken while on antibiotics? (So far just Factive).
