Apparently, I have had LYME three times in three years. Once with a tick on me and no bulls eye, twice with bulls eye and symptoms are dead give a way. I am exhausted, have trouble catching breath, foggy brained, tinnitus, headache, maliaise, achiness, weak....
My first time -2008-I have no record of bloodwork but tested pos. and ended up on iv antibiotics. six months later I tested as: lyme d ab. 2.1H Lyme ab. IgM 3.71H
Five weeks ago, symtoms started again and I still have a bullseye sore on my back with antibiotics. Test was: Lyme AB 2.07 H 23KD IGG and IGM band reactive, 39 Igm Band reactive Is this the same LYME as earlier?
Thanks! J

Probably not the case that it has "reoccurred" but rather that it never went away. There is likely no way to entirely eradicate every last organism. So, relapses are possible and I don't see these as reoccurrences of the disease but rather a reoccurrence of symptoms.

Lyme goes dormant in cysts--single spirochete curled up like a snake in a coating--which are harder to eradicate than spirochetes. It also hides out in biofilms which VERY effectively protect bacteria and other bad stuff (as a community) from the immune system and antibiotics. These biofilms can break open later on down the line making a person sick again as can the cysts.
So as SForgren says, traces of lyme always remain in the body. Some people can keep it in remission and others, for whatever reason, cannot.

I agree with Scott, and also, the testing does not mean much of anything. Lyme disease is a clinical diagnosis.

One or several bullseye rashes can reoccur after the tick bite as a later symptom.
Lyme can go into remission and then relapse, or the symptoms can diminish and then flare.
You can also be reinfected by a new tick bite even if you have had and successfully treated Lyme before.

So.... I can have a bullseye now from a bite two years ago.... really????
That's incredible! I had no idea. Thought I most likely had three deer ticks on me....what are those odds, right!
