I posted a few days ago that I did pull off a tick from my 8yr bellybutton, but the week before he had something attached at the same location, but before I could take a closer look he pulled it off!! ugggh (most likely a tick)

Fast forward: took him the following day to peditrcian and brought in tick-he examined and confirmed a nymph tick but not engorged...I was told to WAIT and WATCH for the next few weeks for symptoms...

Since having Lyme I knew not to persue this conversation with the pediatrician because I knew he wasn't going to treat unless symptoms are present....I have an appt to take him to my LLMD on monday.

But last night, he feel asleep with me in bed and he was tossing and turning, and woke up with a headache that made him cry and vomited just a little....

I was beside myself...i gave him cold compress and he fell back asleep and woke up FINE this morning (he has field day at schoold today).

I am brining him back to pediatrican today, since I'm not waiting till monday with NOTHING in him!

The pediatrican told me that he does treat longer than others....a whole 28 days!! Wooo-Hoo!
should I feel lucky???

How can I present my case without him thinking I'm being neuotic!! My apt is at 3:00 today!

28 days *is* longer than others. And from a non-LL doc, for a brand new infection - it's not bad. Better than most would Rx.

Of course, you want to treat till symptoms are gone, and you know that it may take longer than 28 days.

If it were me, I'd take what the pedi Rx's, it will get you through the weekend till the LLMD appt.

So, so sorry about your little guy!!!

I would also site the stats on tick infections in New York, reminding him that the probability is not in your favor. What is it...70% infected in that area???...Maybe.

Discuss last night's symptoms and their possible lyme TBI infection link.

Don't leave without a script(s). You would not ever factually be neurotic, but he could be very ignorant.

Besides, 28 days aint a drop in the bucket......that's practically a stubborn ear infection. This is LYME.

Get her to your LLMD ASAP.

Hugs,

2roads

If he says no to abx ask him to write it in his record that he the doctor refused abx after a nymph tick bite and sign it. If not you can get a form that says all of this and get him to sign it. Get a copy that day, You may need a release to sign. I forget where this form is but I bet I can dig it up. Thats enough to scare a doc half to death.

Either go back to him and ask him to sign such a letter, or MAIL the letter to him.

Can you see any other doctor? Are there any free clinics near you?

I cannot believe that.

What madness that they would sacrifice your child, and for what?

Antibiotic resistance.....what a load of crap. If it were their child, it would be a different story.

Sorry to vent Jenn, I know you don't need it.

My Ped in Pa eventually excepted the fact that if he was not gonna learn the facts about the disease and make knowledgeable, reasonable decisions about therapy, the parents were just gonna go around him. They could not waist their time.

Hang in there.

Monday is 48 hours away.

Hugs

That is so ridiculous! What about first do no harm!

I like the idea of getting the duck to sign that he refused antibiotics after a tick was attached to a child.

If we don't stand up and fight for our rights, nothing will ever change. Its up to us to put the heat on these stupid, idiot doctors.
