My son is sick...was bit 3x's by tick approximately 2 wks. ago...
He is complaining of headaches. Last night his groin, knee caps, and left elbow hurt.
Today he is saying his groin hurts, throat, knees, and ankle.
Rushed up to our nearest Walk In Clinic. They are closed. As a self educating lymie...I told him that it would be a waste to take him to hospital today...
What is your advice...He is allergic to Amoxy. I have Doxy. here. Could he take that? (I know we are not doctors)!!!
It just took 5 mo's of every sign of early dissemated neuro lyme before diagnosed. That time was critical and I am paying the price for it now.
This is my baby...Where I live...they all want to do a screen and act like lyme is a joke.
Can't tell you how many arguements I've had. What to do? I'm scared I can't wait months to get him into a LLMD..and I know time is key.
Give me your thoughts, PLEASE!!!

My daughter took doxy when she was 10. How old is your son?
Will your LLMD help?

Thank goodness..Thanks for responding...he is thirteen....small for his age but 13. Would you give it a shot, for now..to slow the possible progress. What would you do in this situation?
Thanks so much, for your reply it means the world to me.

I'm going through the same here with my 8yr old son...pulled tick off last week and sent it off to igenex, but he had something attached to him that he pulled off and I'm guessing that was a tick as well...ughh!
Went to pediatrican with tick in hand, and left the office with NOTHING!! went back again, because he had a headache and vomited and left the office agiain with NOTHING!
taking him to my llmd tomorrow for a check up...he's only had that one headache and vomit episode and no other symptoms....thus far!
I know the panic and the fustration...but just beleive that you are still ahead of it, because of your awareness!!
I think though that the dr's want to see a high fever....before considering LYME! just what i've observed with pediatricians!
Go with your GUT and continue to be a advocate for your child, but I wound't reccomend giving him abx's without a dr's knowledge.

That's totally nuts!!!! AAARRRGGHH!!
chuggin.. I'm not sure what age it's OK to begin with doxy for children. Go here to see if they list the age.
I THINK 13 is an OK age, but don't quote me on that!! If you feel it is safe, then go for it. I think the main side effect is that it can permanently darken the teeth of children.
Prayers for both of you and your children!!

Sorry to hear this about your son...all three of my young children are infected with lyme, bart, babs, etc...It does sound like he is having symptoms.
We have done abx with my kids and now are on part of the Cowden protocol (nutramedix herbs), which is actually working better than the antibiotics for all three children. One of mine didn't improve much for the entire second year on abx and now is making wonderful progress. If you would like to know our protocol in more detail, send me a pm.
The doxy would probably be helpful, but don't know if that alone will kick it. Can he take doxy if he has an allergy to amox? I would confirm that.

I had a Amox allergy and was given Doxy with no problems at all.
My 12 yr old son was given Doxy ( as long as all the permanent teeth have formed you should not have a problem with the teeth is what I was told by both doctor and dentist )
Don't forget to have him avoid the sun when on it if you decide to use it !
Good luck
