I read somewhere another Lyme patient said she was extremely hungry all the time.
I went through a period before I was DXed where I was hungry every night and had to have a snack after dinner which isn't normal for me.
And now today I'm starving, which again isn't normal for me. I'm just wondering if anyone else experiences this and could it be Lyme related?

Mine was parasite related. Those worms get hungry!!!

i alternate between nausea/zero appetite and RAVENOUS hunger.
usually no appetite during the morning and afternoon, then i'm STARVING in the evening and will eat a HUGE dinner and snack afterwards, too.
i also have a hard time keeping weight on. i'm 5'2 and 110 lbs but with the amount of calories i consume i should weigh at least 10 lbs more than i do.
when i was sicker, before i started getting my hormone situation sorted out, i had a hard time staying above 100.
but yes, there are times when i am ridiculously hungry for no apparent reason.

I wish I could lose some weight. Before DX I had lost 25 lbs without changing anything, then after I started treating I gained 25 lbs back. I'm trying to lose it not but crap I'm so dang hungry. Just today and yesterday-last week I was fine. Ugh.

My symptoms started in 2004/2005. In 2006 I started to get hungry all the time, no matter how much I ate. I was eating mostly carbohydates I think though. I was full of energy and felt like I had adrenaline pumping through my body all the time. I noticed that I suddenly had gained weight for the first time in my life, next I noticed my skin had stretch marks on it. These were real scars. Then one day all the energy and hunger went away and I started to get constant strong dull ache pain in my chest in addition to the stiff neck which I had from already from the year before. One year after that the dizziness, vertigo attacks and TMJ disfunction started. A year after that the constant dull ache in the back started and the numbness in the face as well as aches in the hips and other places. I also have tinitus and nystagmus.
I have wondered if the hunger had anything to do with the lyme or if it was related to other health problems which were already going on. I can't say for sure, but if others had this I'd be curious.

Hunger can be a symptom of parasitic infestation especially a tape worm. Antiparasitics should be included when treating Lyme disease. Check out
Do a search on here under parasites and Lyme for more info.
Don't ignore this.

I would also guess parasites...we all have them but they seem to get worse or cause more symtoms when we have Lyme.

What if you are hungry all the time. Eat all the time and gain weight-would that rule out parasites?

It can also be yeast, which was my experience

Weight gain and weight loss are both symptoms of parasites. Check out the symptom list at Humaworm. Chronic yeast can also be a symptom as was recently posted on a symptom list that GiGi posted.

I think I've got yeast under control. Could it be parasites even when it only happens every once in a while?

YES ABSOLUTELY!

Weight gain or weight loss - hungry all the time - think parasites and definitely think serious allergies (www.allerlgie-immun.de (English).
Right now we are heading into Full Moon. Watch yourself - this is copulation time for parasites. It is also a good time to catch them. Before they multiply. They love milk!

Mine too! Having yeast makes you ravenously hungry!!

I am hungry all the time too- was one of my first symptoms... I barely weigh 96lbs and im 5'3.
was anti yeast diet and gluten free (today i did cheat and had gluten bc I was just so fed up of having symptoms no matter what it seems)
lately i have been waking up very sick to my stomach..and it usually passes after I either have a bowel movement or eat something.
Today I have no appetite at all. I also get extreme nausea during my period.
could this be parasites?
I did gain most of my weight back a few years ago... but always had the ravenous appetite...
with me I seem to get even more hungry as I am eating. If I eat ice cream it seems to surpress the hunger.

Have you considered taking some antiparasitics? If you haven't been treated for parasites it would be a very good idea since most people with Lyme have parasites.
Low weight and extreme hunger could indicate a tape worm. Check out parasite symptom list at humaworm or do a search on here.

Adrenal system issues can also cause hunger pangs, I think.

Well isnt babesia a parasite? Maybe hunger could be a symptom of babs?

I am eating constantly. I never seem to get full. If I do get full, it isn't long before I'm hungry again.
I lost 30 pounds going through my 1 year divorce that was final the end of June and now I am gaining weight again.
Being so depressed about everything doesn't help either.
I even take a bag of snacks to bed with me now because I know before I fall asleep, I'll be downstairs getting something to eat.
So, yes to your answer. Why, I don't know.
Good luck to you.

MariaA that is what the one LLMD I saw thought it was- my adrenals because I was able to gain the weight back and then lost it again almost instantly after I became very ravenous.
Gael I treated for about a month with a liquid anti parasite supplement I bought on Vitacost- maybe I didnt treat it long enough.
dania- I do wonder about Babs as I test positive for it...maybe it could cause the excessive hunger.
it sure does get costly trying to keep the body fed!
