i'm doing the GI effects microbial ecology profile since my LLMD suspects parasites (and so do i, frankly).
wondering if anyone else has tested through metametrix and if so was it helpful?
for those who have or HAD parasites, how did you figure it out?
thank you!!

I had a test done by Metametrix. It is probably the same one you are referring too. It is very comprehensive and gives you lots of information about different things.
My parasite portion came out positive but they did not identify which parasite it was. It helped me to confirm that I did indeed have parasites as I suspected.

yes, I tested both myself, my 2 and 4 year old daughters and my husband last fall. It was helpful- they found 2 different parasites in my 2 year old and H pylori in my husband and 2 y.o. It was also helpful that they can tell how much good bacteria is in your system also.
I suspected parasites for myself because one day I woke up with horrible diarrea that wouldn't go away. I had never had anything like it before. I originally got parasite tested through a regular hospital lab and it came back positive. I decided to go with Metametrix for testing the rest of my family because parasites are so contagious I wanted to be sure they didn't have anything. I did a follow-up test for myself with them which showed that the parasite was gone after treatment.
From what I understand they have unconventional testing methods and test for the DNA of the parasite and not just the presence of the parasite itself. This allows them to have greater accuracy and find more than most other labs. However, I do believe that parasites are very hard to find and even with the best testing methods, parasites can be missed. Even if the test comes back negative you might want to talk with your doctor about doing a parasite cleanse anyway. It is helpful to know which bug you're dealing with though.
