newly diagnosed w/ Lyme. 5 yr old w/bulls eye rash MD has her on 10 day course of Amoxicillan. Should we push for 30 day treatment as I have read elsewhere? Anybody had experience with treating child?

thanks, I have doc that treats Adults who is willing to tell my gdaughters GP what he needs to do. We are trying to get her to a LLMD but are finding out about this long waiting list. Isn't there a sense of urgency here?

- I hope she can take some liver supportive supplement. There may be some tinctures that are glycerin based. Liver support may also help protect her ears. -

That's a shame, grandmar. The LLMD's are overloaded with people to care for and fit into their schedules. You can blame the IDSA for that!
Can you take the child to a walk-in clinic and show them the rash? You may be able to get more meds.
BTW, be sure to take pictures of the rash!! If possible, get her face in the pic and/or a date from a newspaper next to the face.
A ruler is also one pose you can do in order to show the size of it.

Early Lyme 'officially confirmed' by an MD via an 'erythema migrans' rash... in a 5-yr-old?
Amoxy at "ILADS levels" (adjusted for weight) for a MINIMUM of 4 weeks BEYOND any signs or symptoms of Lyme. Period!
If you can't get that prescribed your "MD", Go find another who Will. This is NOT something to take chances with!
You only have ONE CHANCE at this, grandmar, & the clock is ticking. It needs to be firmly quashed before it "disseminates" & any BB colonies get established.

Yes, please listen to previous posters. You have ONE CHANCE and one chance only to get this thing under control. If she is not treated strong enough or long enough then the Lyme could hide for a while and come back out worse than ever years later.
It happened to my friend-she was bit as a young child, given the two weeks antibiotic regimen and was fine for YEARS. At 17 everything came crashing down. It took her and her mom (who is also sick) over 5 YEARS to figure out what was wrong with them. Now they are both very very sick and her mom has been on IVs for months.
Please take this seriously and don't listen to any mainstream doctor who says one month or even two weeks is enough abx, it is not!
