Sorry to ask, but I am so sick and so scared.
I have most the symptoms of Bart except for stretch marks/streaks. Mentally I am a wreck and don't know how much longer can hold on.
I don't think I will get treatment Abx-wise for Bart and in truth don't think I could handle the likes of Flagyl. Don't know if I am being completely nuts to think I might have Bart.
Isn't it rare in Texas? ie very few cases for humans? Who knows they were infected with Bart in Texas? What can I try for self treatment? Thanks so much. (my sig line shows my Bart results - have previously mentioned - the slight (?) change after Ceftin challenge. (I note dry eyes associated with Bart - I also have dry mouth).

Hi Susan,

I'm sorry you are feeling so horrible. I do know of several people in Texas who have Bart, including myself.

For treatment, you will have to see an llmd which means you will have to travel since there are none in Texas.

I know how awful you feel, you will get beter.

Hugs,
txgirl

National Vet Labs lists that 50% of cats in TX are carriers for bartonella. We have recently found that the cat we inherited from our son is highly positive. We believe that she is the one who infected both my sons who have Lyme. My son's girlfriend also has bartonella, likely from this cat. And then when the girlfriend tested the two dogs at her house, one also was highly positive. They put that dog to sleep this morning. There is conflicting information as to whether dogs and cats can be cured. [Frown]

I am like you. In TX and a very cut and dried case of Bart except no stretch marks. It seems in our family my 3 younger brothers got all the bart stretch marks. (We were all infected by Mom pre-birth).

My 11yo was/is the same way. I've had success with Mycobutin (rifabutin) and Cipro. Levaquin caused some tendon issues. My son has been steadily improving on rifampin.
