I just ordered Fish Amoxicillin online to help treat my lyme disease (since I've been to about a dozen doctors over 4 years with no treatment). I was really nervous that it would be low quality and somehow harm me, but I researched the pill number (West-Ward 938) on the outside. Come to find out it's just regular amoxicillin produced for humans... they probably sell the excess product for animal use.

So if you need antibiotics, just buy pet abx online. I'll let you know how it works for me.

I've tried tetracycline meant for the aquarium a couple times, back in the early '80s (orange & yellow capsules).
I mixed it with OTC cough syrup for some bacterial over-growth at the back of the tongue that my original PCP had prescribed "Mile's Magical Mixture" for. The latter was (is?) a popular, locally compounded syrup, with tetracycline as it's main active ingredient.

But That was a temporary gargle/ swallow thing, Joel. My use Never went beyond a few days.

When you're fighting Lyme with amoxy (a good one, if you're not allergic to it), you Need to be at high daily levels for 3-4 MONTHS, and beyond!

SO... since "amoxy for people" is only $4 for (30) 500mg capsules at WallyWorld- & many other places now- you REALLY need to find a L.L.M.D. or L.L.N.D. who will prescribe for you.

Have you seen a LLMD among those 12 "docs"?
You need to know what you're Dealing with before you go start dosing yourself with antibiotics. Easy to get into trouble... then you'll Need to see a doc... & won't Your face be [Embarrassed]

Plus, I don't like the idea of high levels of "pet-quality" amoxy floating around in me. :-{
It does not have to meet the same QC as the pharmacy-grade stuff.

It's not pet quality, it's human quality generic amoxy that is simply repackaged for fish. Same exact thing, no difference. Simply put, they don't manufactuer animal specific antibiotics like that, they just market it differently. I work in the consumer products industry and I see this sort of thing every day.

In any case, if I need to take high doses of it, I can. I bought 100 250MG capsules, so I can take 500MG per day for 2 months and reorder some more if it starts working. I can't see a LLMD 1. because I can't afford one because they don't take insurance and 2. I live in Texas and there aren't any here. Besides, I know all they will do is prescribe antibiotics so I might as well do it myself. My mother is a doctor, so I will ask her if it's safe or not.

Wrong. It's handled, packaged dispensed in a much more controlled environment.
In fact, I recall the tetracycline powder in those fish capsules did not quite look like what was in the pharmacy capsules... but I took a (brief) chance.

"I work in the consumer products industry and I see this sort of thing every day."
Yup!... I've worked as a store clerk before.
I recall blister-packs [Wink] going back on the shelf after someone decided to return them... usually crumpled some. (We even took Scotch tape to the cards at times.)

"Besides, I know all they will do is prescribe antibiotics so I might as well do it myself."
No, Joel... There's something called medical examinations & lab tests, for beginners.

"My mother is a doctor, so I will ask her if it's safe or not."

Do what she Suggests, Joel.

Amoxy by itself typically doesnt work well. You usually need high dosages (upwards of 3000mg) / day and it should be taken with probenecid for better effectiveness, and some sort of cyst buster like Flagyl. Otherwise all of the lyme will change to cyst form and will come back once you go off. Taken in a high enough dosage with probenecid and pulsing flagyl is a great combo and very effective for some people.

Check out Dr. B's protocol where he discusses various antibiotics. I believ most here were on 1500mg or so.

I am NOT a doctor, so consult with an LLMD before doing anything.

Joel, you need to take 1,500 mg of amoxi (with probinecid) 3 times per DAY.

That means 4.5 grams of amoxi per day.

Then, after about 2 months, add in some metronidazole (flagyl) to kill the cysts. The lyme will all turn into cysts with amoxi alone.

The probinecid keeps the amoxi from being filtered out of your blood quickly. So, you need that too if you are going to kill lyme.

My 2 lyme docs prescribed these dosages. You take 500 mg pills (maybe whale amoxi?).

500 mg amoxi per day isn't going to do anything.

This is one tough disease.

You can read the dosages in Burrascano also.

From p. 14:

"With cell wall agents such as the penicillins, kill kinetics indicate that sustained bactericidal levels are needed for 72 hours to be effective. Thus the goal is to try to achieve sustained blood and tissue levels.. . Because of its short half-life and need for high levels, amoxicillin is usually administered along with probenecid."

And, from p. 18:

"*Amoxicillin- Adults: 1g q8h plus probenecid 500mg q8h; doses up to 6 grams daily are
often needed."

http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf

In English, this means 1 gram every 8 hours plus probenecid 500 mg every 8 hours; doses up to 6 grams daily are often needed.

I weighted 112 lbs when I was taking 4.5 grams per day. It did the trick for me.

It is now over 5 years since I completed my lyme treatment and I am still symptom-free.

These meds really are cheap. It is finding a doc to prescribe them that will cost you the money. Maybe your mom will write the scripts?

I can find all those meds online without a a prescription. I think I'm done seeing doctors, whether they be LLMD's or not. Unless I break a bone or have something catostrphic happen, I likely won't see any more docs since all they do is push expensive drugs and tests people don't need.

I'm just going to use the lyme treatment protocol and see if it works for me. I'll let you know how it works.

Day 2 of Fish Mox and I haven't died yet.... actually I'm feeling pretty well compared to how I normally feel. Perhaps that's just a placebo effect though.
