For the past few days I have been in digestive agony.

It started off feeling like someone had punched me in the breadbasket, that kind of horrible achy pain right in the middle. Not really nauseated, but didn't feel much like eating, or moving for that matter.

Then it progressed into feeling like acid reflux--the bburning in the back of my throat with some nausea. But I'd still get hungry, so I'd eat small portions to try to get it under control.

Yesterday was a nightmare. I woke up feeling a lot better, so I ate breakfast. Big mistake. As soon as I ate, my stomach started hurting and I thought I was going to vomit.

Around that time, my son started complaining of a stomachache, and he sat around doing nothing for a couple hours. So I thought, oh, no big deal, it's a stomach bug.

By lunchtime, my son was completely fine and had no more problems the rest of the day.

I continued to feel horrible all day, desppite keeping myself on the BRAT diet, drinking lots, and upping my probiotics.

I did not take ANY abx yesterday--I'm on Doxy and Rifampin, nor have I taken any today. I took a Prilosec last night after supper (rice and water).

When I went to bed last night, the pain was all through my intestinal tract--I swear I could feel burning/aching from my stomach all the way through my intestines. I thought for sure I'd be up puking all night.

This morning I woke up hungry again. I had a banana and some weak tea so far. Don't feel great, but now I'm hungry again.

So is this GERD, a bug, lyme, or med related? I really don't feel like having to go to my doctor to just be told it's probably a virus.

Everyone's immune system handles a virus differently. It sounds like a bug that your body is having a harder time fighting.

Children always seem to bounce back faster than adults.

You could try aloe vera juice. That sometimes calms my daughter's digestive pain.

I'm wondering now if it is a bug.

My son just came to me and gave me the "Some of my food tried to come out of my mouth" speech.

After we went round and round about what he was talking about, he said his stomach had been hurting right before, and he almost threw up, but he made it stay down.

He's not acting sick overall, but he seems to not be right--just like what I feel, although mine seems more severe and constant.

If he almost vomited, have him drink a little water to wash the stomach acid down from the esophagus.

Chewing a Tums antacid will also neutralize the stomach acid in the esophagus.
