Lyme Disease AB (IGM) WB Negative 41 (IGM) Reactive
My PCP tells me that I do not have LD.
I spoke to a professor of tick-bourne illnesses about the bands and he freaked out. He stated that I was CDC positive and my results should be forwarded ASAP. He was most "excited" about the number of IGG bands that I threw +.
He stated that he hasn't seen somebody throw that many bands in IGG in several years.
This was the same response that I got from the woman at CDC. She wigged out at the # of IGG bands as well.
I have progressed to neurological issues.
What am I missing about the importance of the IGG bands?
CDC called my PCP and all of a sudden his asst called me and they have a RX of Doxy waiting for me at the Pharmacy to treat me for LD.
I am supposed to take 100mg BID for 30 days. From what I understood from both the Prof and the CDC, I should be on IV abx that are alot stronger.
Any thoughts?

What part of POSITIVE does your PCP not understand?
You need at least 400mg of doxy per day .. at least 6-8 wks in order to knock out lyme the first time around. You DON'T want a "second" chronic round!!
I don't really see what is so unusual about that many bands on the IgG.. Some have positive IgG's and some have positive IgM's. Either one means LYME.
Be sure to print out the WB explanation and read it several times.

Please, please, please go to the Seeking a Doctor page and post that you are looking for a LLMD in your city and state.
I don't know how long you've been infected, but 30 days of 100 mg Doxy BID will NOT cure your Lyme.
Get to an LLMD as quickly as possible. With those reactive bands, and the progression to neurologic symptoms, you need to be treated correctly to prevent serious chronic illness.
My husband did the 30 days of Doxy in 1997 after a known exposure. He was fine for about a year. Then he developed symptoms that seemed unrelated to Lyme. He was told his Lyme was cured and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.
He was not diagnosed with chronic Lyme until 2008. He's been in treatment ever since.
You must find an LLMD.
Go to www.underourskin.com and order the documentary. It will open your eyes to the reality of Lyme. You need this information. And it's a great movie!

It is my understanding that a positive IGG is more indicative of a long term infection.
Having spoken with the president of IGENEX, he clarified that the only time a positive band 31 on IGM and IGG indicates long term exposure is when 31 epitope for both IgM and IgG is confirmed by test codes 488 and 489 to help date the initial exposure. This will be important information on length of treatment time. Therefore, a positive band 31 does not always indicate long term exposure.

Thx all for the info..
TuTu - I read in Dr. B's guidebook about the 400 mg, so I started dosing myself. I have doubled the rx that the PCP gave me.. taking 2 100mg bid.
I have an appt with a new PCP this week. The prof told me that I was chronic and that I more than likely passed to all of my boys (4).
Only one of them, my 7 yr old, is showing sypmtoms and he has a WB test pending and an appt with his Ped. (she is awesome)
I have found 3 LLMD in my state, but all are cash up front. I am a mom of 4 with only my husband working, so that is out of the question.
Especially with my son being infected. He will get treatment first. Leaving me to wait, as mom's usually do.
Either way, I cannot afford the treatments. What other options are there for me?
My old PCP will treat me for, rheumatiod arthritis, IBS, insomnia, fatigue, depression, you name it, he'll treat me for it but not LD.
If you are chronic I would suspect that Lyme is not all you have.
But it is possible you have a recent bite that gave you the christmas tree WB.
As your IgM is low out. I would seek a LLMD to help you figure it all out.

I know it seems like you can't afford it because it's just so overwhelming. It is IMPORTANT for you and your son both to get treatment.
Can you sell something?? Will family help out? It's really a life or death situation. You want to be able to be around for a long time for your children.
We were in this same situation and we still made the appointment. In the end, people came together and helped us. It was a miracle!!
