I feel like for every two steps forward I take a step back.....like I just can't get ahead of this with sound sleep!

I tend to get 7-9 hours a night but then maybe once or maybe twice a week I'll hit a bump where I can only do 5-6 a night! I know Dr. B says to never get behind on sleep.

I find it impossible. [Frown]

I try to stay ahead of my sleep and fatigue but it doesn't happen. I have little ones and work and have to wake up early to take my meds.

I'm behind now-baby heard fireworks last night and was up until almost 1am. I get up at 5am for my first dose of meds.

I find it impossible too, I might try to take a nap today once my family wakes up [Smile]

I wish I could take naps....but I find it impossible. [Frown]

I use to think it was impossible to take naps-I actually still hate taking naps-I feel like I'm wasting the day. But sometimes I don't have a choice.

When I find myself sitting on the couch with my eyes so heavy I can't keep them open I try to take a nap. It's hard here with all the kids, my husband, and the dog. They aren't really quiet people.

I guess what I mean is I am not capable of taking naps. I have tried. Once I am up for the day...that's it till nightfall. That is just how my body works. [Frown]

Do you try to just lay down with your eyes closed in a quiet place? Even if you don't actually nap, I find it does help.

Of course, my problem is I can't stay awake very long. I go to my car during my lunch hour and take a nap. I go home and sleep until I have to get up for work the next day. On weekends, I sleep 16 hours a day.

I tried all the OTC, herbal, essential oils, counting sheep etc. I now take ambien. When I wake between 2 and 4 I take another half. I get sleep now. I also cannot take a nap during the day no matter how exhausted I am. My brain just won't go there. I can't function without sleep and feel much worse. Ambien has helped me.

Please be very careful with ambien. It's only meant for very sort term use and many still have trouble with it short-term. Most sleep drugs are very hard on the liver &/or kidneys.

I am trying to get myself off the OTC sleep drugs and just drink Chamomile and take melatonin before bed. The trick for me is going to be early enough...then I'll get at least 8 hours.

Even if I lie in a quiet, dark room, it is very tough for me to fall a sleep. Never been a napper.

I have tons of energy during the day so that has never been an issue. The fact that through all of my pain and other symptoms, never having fatigue or energy issues had regular doctors telling me I can't have Lyme or co-infections without fatigue or swollen knees. Idiots. These disease are too complex and we are such individuals that you can't assume we all have the same symptoms or it must be something else.

You might try OTC theanine. I hear that works, but haven't tried it. I take Ambien.

Could be that your yeast is keeping you awake, rich. I've fallen off the wagon a bit and have been having a little trouble staying asleep lately.

CDs with delta brainwave entrainment can help. There are a bunch of them by different people who make them to help with sleep.

You can get them on the internet. I like D. Jeffrey Thompson & Hemi-sync.

Ambien was good for me but I stopped it since I didn't want to "have" to use it to fall asleep. I wanted my natural sleep to get better. It's good if you have really bad insomnia & nothing works, though.

Also- it was really the pain that was keeping me awake in some instances. So, I take 1/2 of a vicodin before bed if I'm in alot of pain. Sometimes, the pain would wake me up at like 6am... You have to take enough to last throughout the night. Some people may need more.

I just stay up late, too. I go to bed at around 1-2 am - maybe fall asleep at 3-4am & wake up at 12noon or so. I've been doing this for years so it seems like my natural rhythm.

I work at home so I'm able to do this. Some people feel that you have to go to sleep at a particular time but I'm not sure. It's better if you can fall asleep early but I've never been able to do this for most of my life.

Did you ever solve your arm issue?

Posted by richedie (Member # 14689) on :

Arm issue? No, still hurts like hell, gets swollen, blotchy, cold, etc. Joints crack, tender muscles, you name it.

On the yeast...I am going to ask my doc if we can do a trial of Diflucan for the next month to see what happens. I get the standard yeast test...look in my mouth and I am given a clean bill. Not sure what to think.

I eat tons, tons of raw garlic, ginger, onion, pau d'arco caps, etc.
