.

Has anyone been tested for the XMRV virus ?
Is there a connection with lyme or cancer?

I have not been tested. I investigated the test last winter. At that time I think it was around $600...they sent you a kit and you sent it back. The lab that was providing the test was associated with the foundation that is researching xmrv as the cause of CFS. XMRV is a retrovirus (like HIV). I don't know if there has been research into whether it is passed by ticks. Nor do I know what research is being done on its relation to cancer.

I have the lab slip and test kit; just need to go get it done. You get it from VIP labs in California. There is a backlog; it takes 6 weeks just to get the test kit. It costs $400. They take Medicare, but that is the only insurance they take.

There is research being done on it by Dr. Burrascano and Eva Sapi at University of New Haven. There is some information on it in the powerpoint presentations from the 2010 University of New Haven conference on www.lymefriends.org . Just go to Discussions, and click on it, then you'll see the slides in Featured Discussions.

I know of one member here who was tested and was negative. I sure hope I'm negative, too.
