i'm on valtrex. right now i feel like every muscle and joint is exploding. course maybe that's the shingles.
but my ankles hurt, my feet burn, my face hurts and itches but the left leg is the one that's really bad.
will antivirals make you herx with lyme? does it effect bartonella which i think i have?
can you still take probiotics with antifungals? what about florastor?

Antivirals can also cause a herx like reaction, like antibiotics can. I've had herx reactions on valcyte, acyclivir, and oxymatrine (a chinese herb for fighting various viruses).
I doubt that antivirals are effective against bartonella.
I do take probiotcs and florastor with antivirals, but I would not know how to advise you with regard to antifungals.

I'm on amantadine, an antiviral. But I take it with my Biaxin. The combo works against Bb. The amantadine gets the Bb out of the cell walls.

uh, i think i'm pretty much done with flagyl.
in fact, i'm not quite sure that flagyl didn't set this entire motion off.

I thought the antivirals would reduce the impact the viruses were having by slowing down the replication, therefore enabling your immune system to better concentrate on the lyme and other co-infections.
Pretty sad since the lyme and lyme-soup are responsible for the dormant viruses becoming active in the first place.
Kind of like the lyme and co-infection equation. Each helps the other keep you down and unable to rally on your own!

My last appointment, I mentioned that the fatigue improved when I was on Valtrex before. Doc said I could try it again, but I'd have to go off the antibiotics while I was on it. Anyone else told not to mix antivirals and antibiotics? Or is it maybe specific to the abx I'm on?

I was on doxycyline, and my doctor put me on acyclovir. He did not want me on valtrex, since it was processed in the liver as was doxy and he didn't want to overtax my liver.
Ask your doctor what his reasoning is. Perhaps he also does not want to overtax some part of your body (liver, kidneys).
