I keep track of my heart rate at least a few times a week. I had a tachychardic spell last summer, so I just watch it I guess.
Usually it's between 75 and 80 at night.
It's currently over 100 bpm. As I posted earlier I've been having a lot of air hunger over the last several weeks, and it seems to be getting worse.
I took a xanax (.5) today, though I could take another one if needed. I am completely at rest and was working on a website, completely unstressed when this started. I also have the start of a cold.
I don't really want to go to ER if it's nothing, but of course I won't know if it's nothing unless I go in. It's hovering around 104, so it's not like it's THAT high. Honestly if I wasn't having the shortness of breath issue too I wouldn't be worried.
Anything I can try to bring it down or should I just play it safe and go see the not-so-LL-ER docs?

In my opinion I think your fine. I compare it to what I deal with daily. I believe it's because the nervous system is compromised by infection and inflamation. More then likely your vagus nerve is infected irritated.
I go through these. When I herx I notice it more. I have POTS so it's to be expected for me. I had all the heart checks and they are all normal.
Now in your case if you haven't had heart tests ie echo, ekg, stress, nuclear stress, or event monitor, you might want to contact a cardiologist to look into it more deeply.
All an all just over 100 isn't bad. Remember if you just ate your heart rate will increase for digestion process.
But if you ever feel pain or heart attck symptoms don't hesitate to call 911.
Also some meds cause tachy. What are you taking?

Just Doxy right now (and Advil and Xanax).
I have had several heart tests before diagnosis when I was getting chest pains (which I now believe to be inflammation).
I talked to a nurse friend, and she told me to drink a whole bunch and see if that helped.
Thanks for the reassurance.

And after flushing a ton of fluids, it does seem to be coming down.

You really should try an amino acid called Taurine. It protects the heart and has a very positive effect on the rhythm. They use it in China with great success on their cardiac patients. Thorne brand is usually the best if you can find it. It was perscribed by my LLND. POTS can also come with LYME and can be very uncomfortable but I have been told it can resolve once the Lyme is successfully treated.

Hey Hungry Squirrel, Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, you been seeing Dr Quack. "3 weeks of Doxy and you're cured"
Your better off finding a witch-doctor rather then seeing that PCP again.

BHealthyNow, do you have Babesiosis? Elevated heart rate and air hunger can be symptoms of it.

I had these symptoms as well. Still do. I'm flaring, so they come and go. I feel it when I herx.
I ewnt to a cardiologist, and all was fine. I even went for a 2nd opinion, and this doctor believes I'm fine as well.
It's scary, but hang in there!

I wasn't symptomatic of Babs until recently. So it's possible that it's starting to rear its head. I don't know. Didn't hear back from doc today, but they said they would call by tomorrow, so I'm hopeful that we have a treatment plan in place.

I see your using Doxy. although this drug and most drugs can cause tachycardia, it's probably lyme or one of the co-infections that are causing your symptoms.
I've had this problem for four years, and got sick of asking the docs about it. So just know if your heart tests are fine that it's just a complication of this awful disease.

Are you thirsty with the air hunger? I found when I was sob that I was thirsty and drinking would relieve it. I never took my pulse at the time. My guess was that it could be the tachy, but since drinking stopped it I was confused.
I would suggest following up with a cardio just in case and for peace of mind.
I never had palps with my tachy., I just always felt tired and on the verge of fainting. My 1st ekg must've been pretty high, because the nurse asked another nurse if the results were possible. They did a 2nd one, because the dr. (quack) thought it was wrong and it came back high again. He asked me repeatedly if I was nervous. I wasn't, but he wrote it off.
1.5 yrs. later a neuro did cardiac tests and one was a holter. I had long periods of tachy and as high as 170 bpm. It's inappropriate sinus tachy.
I had all the heart tests done and my heart is fine. I do have neurocardiogenic syncope too, but just found out (after 11 yrs.) that that is neurological.
My cardio isn't really Lyme literate. He thinks that Lyme heart problems don't include tachy, it includes brady. and heart block. He did have me wear another holter when I was reinfected, though.
With treatment, atenolol and verapamil ER, my highest heart rate was 105 bpm when wearing a 30 day eCAT in May. So, that's real good.
