So I'm on this mega-dose of doxycycline. (200 mg, 2xday). Doc suggested Theralac (probiotic)to put the good stuff back in. I bought one bottle. It says take one per day. Seems like maybe I should be taking more? Does anyone else take this? Or supplementing with another Probiotic.

I feel the 'yeastie beastie' sneaking up slowly. I have the Diflucan generic, but only take it twice a week to kill yeast. Anything else I should do? Besides eating lots of yogurt & reducing white bread & sugar?

I understand that Theralac is an outstanding probiotic.

Eliminate anything made from flour. It all turns to sugar right off the bat. Eliminate potatoes. Eliminate white rice, or better yet, all rice.

Don't eat anything with sugar in it.

Only eat small amounts of high fiber fruits like strawberries and then only at the end of a meal.

Most fruits are full of sugar, so they will feed the yeast.

Basically, just eat meat and non-starchy vegetables.

Buy some kefir that has no sugar added, and drink 4 oz every day. Kefir is better than yogurt at adding back in the good flora that is killed by the doxy. Take the kefir and yogurt at least 2 hours after antibiotics. Best taken at bedtime so it has all night to repopulate the gut.

Once you start having yeast trouble, it can make you as sick as lyme disease.

AND, this is not the time of the year for doxy. If you go in the sun, you can get a NASTY medication burn, no warning.

Your hands can burn while driving. The sun coming through the windshield can do it. So, people who must be on doxy in summer wear gloves to drive.

Sunscreen does not prevent the doxy burn. It is a killer, believe me.
