Another day of questions for me, thank you all for your help in all of this. I phoned my dr today and spoke with his receptionist...I am violently throwing up from the doxy...and major reflux, really was a terrible day yesterday, so this morning i haven't taken any meds because i am too scared to..I hope they call back and change me to something else

I just heard from my doctor, he is switching me to only rifampin, no more doxy...has anyone had any luck on the rifampin?

You have to take doxy with a full meal. If you are taking it on an empty stomach you are bound to have nausea.
Even with food, it may still bother you. My doc gave me carafate, which has helped me a lot with the doxy nausea so I've been able to stay on it.
I have also heard of a brand of doxy called Doryx, which some people have said was less hard on their stomach.
Get your LLMD's advice, and good luck.

I am curious if you are taking the capsules or the pills. I took both at different times for Lyme and only the capsules made me throw up and feel sick to my stomach. The reason capsules do this is because they break down quicker than the pill form.

Not sure of your dose of Rifampin, but it was helpful for our daughter to start with one capsule and work up to two. '
Best of luck

I was taking the pills 200mg2xday...didn't seem to matter with food I was still very sick from it..The Rifampin is now 300 mg/day for one week and then check back in with my doctor after that. I have started taking a multi vitamin, and fresh squeezed lemons in my water as i heard this is good for nausea, i'm also going to incorporate magnesium supplements and b12 hoping it will help the pain in my feet and the lethargy???? Glad to hear that the Rifampin helped your daughter!!

Rifampin alone will only allow the Bart to build resistance. Here's a link with some suggested combos. BTW, one of them is doxy but biaxin is another.
