NUMB SKIN just to the left of my spine, at the level of the lowest ribs. Been going on for many months.

Started about the size of a quarter. Now perhaps 3-4" diameter AND itchy.

It is weird; numb & itchy. No rash. No marks.

I've been dx with Rocky Mt. Spotted Fever and Lyme.

Is there a connection?

I also get bouts of muscle spasms in my back. I don't know if it is related. And I have spine pain at the same level; sometimes mild. Sometimes moderate. Rarely severe.

The numbness makes me think nerve involvement.

Shingles is the reactivation of Varicella Virus (the chicken pox virus). If you've ever had chicken pox, the remaining virus lives in the nerve roots in the spine. Stress and/or illness can cause an outbreak.

Shingles is painful and itchy, and often comes with visible sores. It usually follows a line out from the center (google dermatomes) and can appear on the back or the front of the body.

Docs usually give antivirals and pain meds. It will run its course with time.

My other thought is skin parasites, which are very common in Lyme. The itching is indicative of a skin infection.

I have had crawling in the same place (left of spine but at shoulder blade level. It sometimes turns to prickly pins a needles and stings but it has been there since the beginning 4 years ago.
I would love to know which infection is causing it or if I am missing something.

I also have strange raised linear brown raised dots on my hip which are a mystery to me. They dont hurt or itchy but they are definitely something I think a keen parastesiologist (cant spell) might be able to figure out.

I have travelled extensively in romote regions of asia etc so it could be anything.
