I got a sore throat a couple of days after starting biaxin. It was pretty bad. It's gotten some better but hasn't gotten totally better. I'll have been on the biaxin for almost a month now.
I go back and see my LLMD tomorrow.
I'm just wondering if this could be something to do with the ld or a co-infection reaction to the meds.

- I had a sore throat for a solid 20 years, both on and off of many antibiotics.
Look in the back of your throat. Then look to the sides. Do you see some red crescent marks? If so, that's pretty classic for lyme and that can really be painful. I had so many doctors look straight to back of my throat and say it looked fine, all those years, while it felt on fire.
I read about the Red Crescents in literature from the CFIDS Association. Then, later, regarding lyme. Bingo.
Avoiding gluten and dairy helps. But, be sure to mention to your LLMD. ---------------
Excerpt: . . . Crimson crescents, portrayed as diagnostic for CFS, I have detected in LD where the diagnosis was secure. . . . -

Keebler...did you notice if it hurt worse when you were on antibiotics?
I haven't been able to get a good look yet.

I had the sore throat too..five days after starting biaxin, amox and probenecid. I had it for 10 straight months. It went away when I started rocephin and i never had it again. It would hurt worse if i tried to do any kind of exercise. It felt like strep most of the time. My doctor had no idea why I had it and never referred to it as a herx.
