I am new to this horrible disease. I believe I have had it since I was a small child...I am now 25.
I am meeting with my LLMD next Wed. How do I know what type of meds to take? Will he tell me which one will be better for me?
I am asking because I had strep about 2 months ago, and the amoxicillin made me deathly sick. I have also taken other oral antibotics for bladder problems recently that have the same effect. Several of my symptoms stem from stomach problems.
I am so anxious...should I ask for a certain type over the other. Most of my problems are neurological. I was diagnosed with Pseudo Tumor Cerebri in 2007. This an excessive amount of fluid on the brain which acts like a fake tumor. I have read this can be linked to Lyme.
Any advice would be very helpful! Thanks in advance!

Yes, I believe your new LLMD will give you the direction needed. Don't guess. Get professional advice.
Amoxicillin isn't easy. I'm now on 4 grams a day and I had some rough days. I was so tired I just had to lie down. I don't even think 4 grams is much based on my body weight either.
I don't think Lyme causes that condition you mentioned. I think it's drug induced, especially by Doxycycline. Who told you it's Lyme connected?

Document all your concerns, symptoms, and reactions to medication it will make figuring out how to treat much easier and that way you don't forget anything important.

Take it all one step at a time. Know that you are on the right track. Let your LLMD test and examine you. If you can, send your records to be reviewed prior to your appt.
Write down questions so that you can be sure to discuss all your concerns with the doctor durning the appt. Bring someone with you to the appt if you can. It's nice to have a second set of ears to absorb all the information, it may be overwhelming. If you have to go alone, take something to write on to help you remember important instructions and information.
Your LLMD will recommend the treatments (medications and supplements) that they feel will be best for you and your symptoms. Try not to worry Posted by sixgoofykids (Member # 11141) on :
Amoxy is a tough drug for Lyme. Your LLMD will know what to do with you.
