I am new to this forum and would like to know if anyone else has had constant dizziness and a sense of inbalance, sometimes interspersed with severe vertigo. This is only one of other symptoms I have, but the most severe and debilitating.
After almost 3 years of having this dizziness on and off and seeing 10-20 doctors I am running out of options. Some lyme tests have had some positive tests, but my internist said it's unclear if 1-3 strains is a definite positive for lyme.
So I'm wondering if others have had this type of general dizziness and feeling that their head is tilted/ off-balance. Thinking it may indeed be lyme or coinfection or both.
Unfortunately I don't have finances to cover these expensive lyme doctors who do not take insurance, so this really is my last resort to attempt to once and for all feel better.
Anyone's input would be really appreciated to see if I should pursue the lyme possibility or not. Thanks...

that is one of the main things that took me to the drs last year amongst other things but that was the most concerning......so yes it can be lyme and coinfections.........mine is better with treatment although I still do have some of it.........I had balance testing by the neuros that said i was at risk of falls and they still didnt test for lyme BUT my PCP did........
I know finances are difficult but I have found out the hard way this year that you must go to a well experienced LLMD, I went all around trying to do it cheaper and it has cost me a whole lot more in wasted time and finaces not doing it right from the beginning............
Lyme does not go away and the fact that you have a couple of bands needs to be looked at further.........
Honestly I can only tell you if you can scrape the initial money together to at least get on the right path you will be so much better off than going around trying to find an answerw with someone else..................
good luck to you

thanks so much! I was just concerned with wasting more money on something that might not be the problem... will see what I can start to scrape together... I just wanted to feel normal again, most people just have no idea how bad it is... thank you and i hope you will be 100% again soon.

Hi nyc599,
One of the major symptoms of Lyme disease , which is caused by infection of a microorganism resulting from a deer tick bite, is dizziness.

It sounds like it can be Lyme & Lyme and Bart. 1 strain is positive if its a lyme borriela specific marker.
See Dr. B's Advanced Topics in Lyme Disease.

That was one of my first alarming symptoms. I have lyme and babs. I'm currently being retested for bart. after two years of treatment. I'm so much
better Florence1 is absolutely right. If it is lyme you don't want to delay treatment until the symptoms spread and get worse. I hope you can get
some good help, I know what you mean about the money, as tough as it is it is worth every penny having my life back.

Thanks so much everyone for the good advice. All I want is to feel better finally and if that;'s what it takes, that's what it takes.

If you do treat for Lyme-beware the side effects of some antibiotics. Minocycline really did me in with dizziness. It gets very hard to differentiate between side effects and symptoms.

Also if you treat lyme expect herxing which is a worsening of your symptoms because of die off. I could hardly walk for a month because of vertigo and ataxia.
I get it periodically but treatment has made it a rare event.
