I used search and found some old posts about this, but still confused (as usual) LOL!

Some say just space it away from Mepron, others say switch to something else (but what?) for liver support.

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks!

Wow! Thanks for posting your question. I was on Mepron over the winter and am now hoping that I didn't sabotage my efforts in some way by taking my milk thistle to close to the Mepron. The doctor never mentioned this.

I found some helpful (potentially for you) information while doing my own search to better understand.

Ask your LLMD. He may want you to take the Milk Thistle, just timed away. Or he may suggest something else. Your LLMD should guide you on this and whatever you do, he/she needs to be know.

Specifically for LYME patients - lots of details about ears and what can help:

3/4 of the way down page one, there are lots of LIVER LINKS:

I decided that I would take Milk Thistle occasionally while on that protocol but away from the meds.

I figured if the medicine didn't absorb as much one day that it wouldn't ruin my treatment plan.

From what I understand Milk Thistle produces more bile. I'm not sure how much harm that could do to Mepron.

Milk thistle is the only thing I take for liver support. I am going to switch to something else.
What are my options?

Should I take more than one supplement for liver support?

What are your options? Lots of details are in the links above, but you should also have this discussion with your LLMD.

As a support system, you may also want to seek out the expertise of a LL ND (naturopathic doctor) or L.Ac. (acupuncturist).

I gave my LLMD a list of my supplements. He did not say anything. I did not ask about milk thistle because I did not know.

I called yesterday and told him about my stomach bleeding, and he said he could not evaluate me over the phone. PCP evaluated me. I just asked if I should stop abx or continue. He said whatever I wanted.

I asked if Carafate would heal my stomach if I continued to take abx. He said he didn't know if it would heal or not.

Needless to say, I will try to never call him between appts. again. The call was totally useless.

I can ask about milk thistle at my next visit. By then, I will be on Mepron 6 weeks.

Just so you are aware, carafe contains aluminum. That adds to heavy metal toxicity and neuro hyper-excitability from that.

Have you used DGL (deglycyrrhizinated licorice)? Slippery Elm bark? You can read more about those here:
