Suddenly, while on mepron and zith, my gums started to bleed. Nothing else changed except the drugs. I googled but what does it mean in terms of a lyme patient??? One person thought it was malnutrition because of the drugs.

I didn't take abx but this happened to me. It happened after I was taking artemesia.
I suspect that pathogens may be sequestered in the gums. When you do something that may kill them - it may trigger a bleeding gum episode.
Dr. Cheney, a CFS doctor, suggests that his patients swish some artemesia extract & water in their mouths. Maybe this is why?
It's a curious phenomena... I don't know what it is from a scientific point of view, just going on intuition & a little studying.

The bacterium most often responsible for this is Porphyromonas Gingivalis.
I am currently investigating this species as it is connected to gum disease and possibly autoimmune disease. I am using frequencies to hopefully disable the pathogen.
This bacterium also somewhat hijacks the immune system, and changes its function in a limited way. I have an autoimmune disease called Crohn's, so it is of interest to me. I also have gum disease, and have a little experience reducing the bacteria with MMS or Miracle Mineral Supplement.
My first experience with this was using MMS as a Crohn's treatment, also a Lyme treatment for my wife. Stomach problems got in the way of using it for Lyme, but it did resolve many of my Crohn's symptoms.
One side effect was a large improvement in my gum disease as noted by my hygienist. I would swish it around my mouth before swallowing it.
It did come back once I stopped using it, but it did work quite well at the time. I am now trying to completely eliminate it, but I am months away from knowing if it can be done.
So the Dr. may be correct in that Artemesia may reduce the bacteria, but MMS will also work.
That is what I know so far.

Maybe there's die off in the gums, toxins are released, and inflammation then occurs. You go to brush and the gums just shred. Maybe?
Or maybe the drugs have changed something in my CBC or made me anemic--that could cause it.
It's definitely to do with the drugs one way or another.

just witnessed a lyme patient's dental plaque from thier bleeding and sore gums under a microscope. Major bugs moving around...spirokeets and protozoa very active on the slide.
Dentist recommended a poltice of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide mixed in the palm of hand...form a paste and apply it to the gums...let it sit...especially in any areas of decay or dental work....where teeth have been removed. Then brush it into the gums...this will help kill some of the bugs. Bugs always reside n the jaw, and gums.

Miracle Mineral Supplement is available with just an internet search using the name.
It does kill active Lyme, and is likely to break down other medications in your system, so you may not want to swallow it, but just rinse with it.
Apparently the antibiotics are not effective against the Gingivalis bacteria and may be killing other bacteria that compete with it, or that would be my guess.

I had bleeding gums too once & someone suggested opening a probiotic capsule & swish for a couple of minutes, it made sense & did help.

In my case, I don't think I have gum disease. Sometimes my teeth and gums are more tender or more prone to bleed during my menstrual period.
I know there are some gum bacteria that are spirochetes but they may not be Bb - exactly. I haven't researched it thoroughly. There are probably many bacteria that live in the gums. I think I read somewhere that there are bacteria that are also related to heart disease that live in the gums.
They also have infrared light appliances you can use on the gum area. This may help...? I used to use the LightWorks on my gums, mouth & jaw - under the tongue. I haven't been using it lately.
The baking soda & peroxide sounds like a good, easy remedy, too.

PS - I read that a post that GiGi posted a while back about Dr. K - I believe he thinks that babesia can be sequestered in he jaw...
I don't have any root canals - but I read that they can harbor lots of pathogens. The materials they use for fillings probably isn't all that great - mercury amalgams or the other composite materials.
It probably just adds to the mix of bacteria, etc.

I have suffered w/bleeding gums and sores a number of times. Went to periodontist and diagnosed as Lichen planus. Google and you will see how it could relate to lyme and weakened auto-immune systems

I just did a CBC the other day so I'll know soon enough. I'm SOOOOOOOO tired, like anemic tired, so maybe I am anemic which can cause bleeding gums.
The theory that the abx are killing off bacteria that compete with gingivitis sounds like a good one. My teeth used to feel hairy with all the plaque build-up but not now. And I'll try the baking soda and paroxide.
I've never really had this before-bleeding in 6 spots even with soft brushing. I have to be so so careful.
