Just came back from appt. with infectious disease doc. I had clearly had Lyme last year, was treated with two weeks doxycylin and got better. Same time this year, got optic neuropathy, no other Lyme symptoms but am in woods all the time and Lyme all around here. Western Blot show Bands 18,23, 28, 39, 41 positive this and last time and new ones 58 and 66, IGM and IGG both positive. Infectious Doc. says she can not tell if old antibodies and not Lyme even if IGM postive. Anyone run into anything like this? Seems only way to tell if new Lyme would be if I had clear sign like a rash. Next stop, neuro opthamologist.

Sorry but you and the doc have it all wrong.
your two weeks of doxy did not cure you
I had a cdc positive lyme test with symptoms but never had a rash or even saw a tick.
you need to go to the Find a doctor board and post your location to find a lyme literate medical doctor (LLMD). Your infectious disease doctor is not going to help you. Please do this asap!
All of us on this board have been through the same thing. Don't waste time with other docs. The more time goes by, the harder it is to treat.

Unfortunately, nobody has ever been cured by 2 weeks of doxycycline; the CDC recommends a bum treatment.
The reason your doctor didn't know about this is because there is a vast coverup of the realities of the disease

You need to get to a Lyme-literate doctor; the neuro-opthalm will not help you.

Whether you have old lyme or new lyme, you've still got it. Get rid of it by going to a Lyme Literate doctor as soon as possible. Follow the links above & don't stop until you have the answers you want. You cannot depend on the advice of the ID doctor. Just do more research & you will understand. with all those bands, theres no way 2 weeks did the trick. do what everyone else has said, find an llmd.
