So I have a friend who has had a host of sx for the past several months--everything from debilitating fatigue to pain in her joints to extreme sensitivity to sunlight, and I forget what else.

Some of my lyme friends and I, who all see the same LLMD, urged her to make an appt. with him, and she had started the ball rolling.

However, she continued to see her GP and an Infectious Disease Ducktor. Now her dx came in as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis in her hands. She also has borderline lupus measurements, so that isn't ruled out just yet.

We have tried telling her that these diagnoses are often copouts when the docs don't really know what to think.

I know everyone has to make their own decisions, but geez, isn't there anything I can say to get her to consider the possibility of lyme?

The Canadian Lyme Foundation has a good list of symptoms.

Download & print the green booklet from http://lympa.org

Hand it to her. Page 12 has the "diseases" lyme is misdiagnosed as.

Oh wow, go figure ..the booklet is produced by the LDA of Southeastern Pennsylvania

Think that will convince her??!!

Somehow I doubt it. We've been through all the discussions and literature with her, but she just is grasping onto what these ID docs are telling her. Since she's feeling somewhat better onthe treatments they've started, she doesn't feel the need to investigate further.

I had those same symptoms as part of my Lyme Disease. My LLMD diagnosed me with fibromyalgia (yes, he knew it was from Lyme, he wanted to prescribe Lyrica).

Just plant seeds. Don't try to talk her into it .... just say things like, "Have you ever considered WHY you have these symptoms? These syndromes with no known cause? There has to be a reason. All those other doctors are doing is treating symptoms but not the cause. Without treating the cause, you'll get worse."

I wish someone had said it to me. I was on years and years of immunosuppressant drugs and barbaric tests. All could of been avoided. It is now harder to undo all the damage.
