I moved into a rental house and discovered, after the move-in, that the house had rats in the crawl space under the house and in the attic. The problem in the attic was more severe.
It's actually a beautiful house... owner just lives out of state and not on top of things.
In the attic, since the rats were there for a long time, there is a very large amount of rat urine and feces throughout and in the insulation.
The landlord has hired a pest control company to clean the attic and reapply the insulation. I am very, very concerned about the clean up process and having the dust possibly come into the house since they'll be carrying the bags of waste through the house to bring it outside.
Myself and the pest control company created a plan to minimize exposure, however, there's bound to be some coming through.
Given my immune system being so week right now, I am extremely concerned about my body having to fight off some exposure to the rat poop virus that would take away from fighting the lymes etc.
Should I just leave it in the attic and move out when my lease is up? Should I try to find another rental right away and just get out of here? Or, is it okay to do the clean up and just be very careful about getting stuff inside the house?
I like the location of the house and may not find something better.

Wondering if hantavirus might be a concern. You are probably not in a plague area.
Any way to lower the bags of debris out of the house thru eaves or some other opening, so they do not have to got thru the house to be removed? Your plan probably needs some way to clean the shoes, etc of the workers who go thru your house on the way out.
