I have/had the standard line-up of Lyme and Co. Starting back around March, my cocktail consisted of Zithromax, Cipro, and Mepron. We added Plaquenil around May.

I was doing GREAT, as in almost no symptoms whatsoever once we added the Plaq. Until about a wk ago. =(

The only thing that has changed is I ran out of Mepron about 2wks. I did call my LLMD for a refill, but he said that since I'd had 4mo of it, that was it. Didn't need anymore.

It was just within a week or so of stopping the Mepron that my head started hurting again. As in non-stop, every day hurting.

Also pain in my legs. Definitely bone and joint pain, not large muscle like babesia is 'supposed' to cause. My hips are the worst.

I've had some muscle pain in my upper arms, and I would assume that is leftover babesia.

But the rest?? Can babesia cause bone and joint pain? Or headaches?

The loss of the Mepron is literally the only thing that has changed. I'm stumped.

Can't call my LLMD and beg for more either, since he retired just about the time I realized that having missed the Mepron was definitely letting symptoms come back. Talk about timing! =(

Sorry to hear this. It is very coincidental these symptoms started since stopping the Mepron. Normally that is a big indicator. Babs can certainly cause headaches. And our LLMD told me that Mepron can work against lyme as well, so perhaps the lyme is flaring along with the babs.

I just don't understand how docs call themselves LLMD's and claim babs is cured in 4 months. My kids still tested positive for it a year into treatment with Mepron/artemsinin.

I would get to a new LLMD ASAP.

Hubby is anxious to find a new doc, too. I didn't think I'd need to hurry up and get one immediately. Figured I'd have 2-3mo since the rest of my abx will last that long.

I suppose that may not be the case... which really bites!

I would get a second opinion too. I have had headaches and bone pain with bart. I have read bart headaches are in the front and migraine like but babesia is usually in the back of the head/neck. Don't know about that but it fits my bart headaches.

I found when I treated one infection and began to get it under control, the simmering one began to boil. This could be another infection. I wouldn't ignore it though or wait any longer to address it.

I wonder if replacing the mepron with flagyl would do any good. I still have some flagyl. If the mepron was hitting the lyme, maybe switchin it for flagyl would keep things at bay for awhile.
