Husband developed a huge rash around the area of a tick bite. It appeared about 2 days after he knocked the tick off. I immediately took him to the ER. They gave him 100mg Dox and a script for 1 a day 10 days. He has an appointment with our regular Doctor tomorrow. This is my question. He has no symptoms other than the rash, but I know this has got to be a lyme rash. How much Dox and how long do we need to ask for to kill all bac. I know by reading that 100mg for 10 days is not the thing. In fact I gave him one of my Dox (100mg) when we got home from the ER that Sunday night. I had read in one of my books that 72 hours 200 mg should be done, but how much after and how long for his case? I DO NOT want him to go through what I have and am going through!

400 mg a day for 3 months. Not sure you will get that from a general practitioner

400 mg per day, six weeks past last symptom according to the Dr. B guidelines.

So it is 400mg even if he doesn't have any symptoms except the rash? He was bitten five days ago.

Less than 400 will not kill the bacteria, it will only keep it from multiplying.

Thanks so much. He has been taking 200mg a day until his appointment tomorrow. I have him bump up to 400 today and hope and pray the Dr will give him a script for 400 for six weeks.

Ditto.
Don't fool around with low dosages and only 10 days. He is sure to have trouble later if that is all he takes. Just my non-medical opinion. Speaking from experience.
