My husband just tested positive for lyme. [Smile] Just wondering if anyone can give me some feedback on the effectiveness (or non) of it. Since it's more than an oral (a pic line) I want to check with those that have been there, done that before we agree. Just not sure which way to go...

I LOVE my rocephin! Initially had a mild-moderate emotional herx than great relief in symptoms. I caution that although rocephin is a great lyme drug...it alone is not a cure all. It can cause the Lyme to go into cyst or L-form and therefore should be combineed with another ABX to target this. I started with Rocephin and then added IV zith and now oral flagyl. I am much better thankfully.

Make sure to take plenty of good probiotics. The PICC line is easy to care for and causes me no trouble. Once I complete my IV treatment (6-8 more weeks) I will switch to either oral or IM to hopefully continue to improve.

My personal experience...I have significant CNS symptoms (myoclonus, tremors, blurred vision, twitching). The IV is best for penetrating the BBB and more effective. Others get well on orals.

IV Rocephin for three months got me out of a wheelchair. This was after 5 1/2 months of all different oral drugs that didn't help near as much. I agree it is easy to care for the pic line. I say it got me up again.
