Within the past year, I've been getting ridges and irregularities in my fingernails and they are gradually getting more pronounced. Could this be due to heavy metal buildup?

One LLMD told me it was because of cortisol problems.

Another told me it was an indication of Lyme.

Which direction are the ridges going??

I have vertical ridges. I DO have cortisol problems and long term Lyme....so... whatever!!

Always wondered what was up with that!!

I have weird nail problems too. I am interested to hear what others have to say.

I have little white dots on my fingernails and red striped bands under all my toenails.

It has always made wonder just what causes it.

Janet thomas, does it mean one has too much or too little cortisol?

Lymetoo, oddly enough I have both vertical and horizontal ridges (but more horizontal) and long term Lyme. Don't know about my cortisol levels.

White spots=zinc deficiency???

Again, I don't know.

I'm with Lymetoo. I also have low cortisol and very long-term Lyme. I have the vertical ridges.

I've had vertical ridges and they have been getting better lately.

I am on Armour for my hypothyroid in which my lyme kicked into hypo.

Hair is growing more each month now too.

Endocrine glands, adrenal, thyroid, will give you these vertical ridges also.

Also check to see if you have the moons on your fingernails. You should have them on every finger but the little ones. I only have them on my thumbs and very slight on my pointing fingers, but before treatment I had no moons at all. They went away when I got sick.

My nails are also very fragile. I have to keep them very short or they break into the quick.

I barely have moons at all... only on my thumbs.
