i was fortunate enough to have some diflucan. the doctor only gave me three days for the thrush and i stayed on this.

i feel soooo much better taking it. it's only 100 per day but it has helped tremendously.

i wish he would prescribe more but he won't. remember he doesn't believe in candida!!

i feel like going to mexico or something. cruises are cheap out of galveston and i can go to cozumel. problem is getting it back tho.

i just don't understand why doctors won't prescribe diflucan if you feel better on it. i mean, it's not a narcotic or abx, so what's the big freakin deal.

i'm not seeking drugs like some addict wanting heroine or something, c'mon....

i wish i could get more but i honestly don't know how.

how long have you stayed on diflucan and has it helped your symptoms?

it certainly has helped mine. my muscle pain, the deep aching kind, is so much better, and i'm actually sleeping too.

could be the diet too.

but it sure is doing something.

Most of us who are or have been on abx long term NEED to kill out yeast that sometimes we don't know we have. YOU happen to KNOW you have it.

Are you still on the sugar free, low carb diet? That will also help you feel better!!

I would definitely consider a cruise. It's no problem at all in bringing it back. You are allowed to bring meds for yourself.

Got an OB/GYN??? They are usually more helpful in handing out Diflucan. [Wink]

I was on 200mg/day for like 8-9 months. Worked wonders for me and I didn't have any liver problems.

Helped my headaches and neck pain. I felt really good on it. That was 2-3 years ago and those headaches have never come back.

I used to have them daily, so it was a big improvement for me. My LLMD prescribed it for me.

Good luck getting back on it. Take care!

well i was told that you cna't get it back onboard!!

i was in this kind of like a drugstore and i couldn't believe all the meds just on the shelf -- biaxin, flagyl, diflucan, i mean a ton of stuff.

i've got bp meds and i was seriously considering taking them with me.

has anybody got meds from mexico?

and i just know my obgyn won't prescribe it either.

these dang docs are absolutely driving me crazy.

Why don't you call a cruise ship and ask?? I KNOW you can walk over to Mexico and bring back anything you want.

I would think that it could possibly be a problem getting them back onboard since it would be illegal to have them in the U.S. without a script.

I wish I knew the exact law concerning this.

Maybe your doctor feels that it may interfere with your protocol. I know that it can effect how other medicines are absorbed.

Just a thought.

I just took generic fluconazole for 26 days, 100mg 2x/day. My yeast went away within a week, and my recurring morning thrush was gone by the second week.

However, I still get a bit of morning thrush if I eat carbs the day before. I think the strict diet has done the most to help me.

I was also simultaneously taking Solaray Yeast Cleanse, Garlinase garlic tablets, and grapefruit seed extract (not realizing that there is also a significant amount of GSE in the Solaray Yeast Cleanse).

After 2 weeks, I felt great, but for the next 2 weeks, I had a bad herx that ended with increasing and frightening depression. I quit the fluconazole.

I quit all my meds for 2 days, and the depression and pain went away. Then I just restarted everything (except the fluconazole, and I added back my Biaxin that my doctor said don't take together with Diflucan), but backed way off on the GSE and other anti-yeast things. Now I am back to my usual low-level Lyme symptoms and no depression, and no yeast.

A few days ago, I noticed that my spleen appears to be swollen (bump on upper left abdomen), which probably means that something was causing me trouble with my liver and/or spleen. It seems to be gradually lessening now.

So, I don't know what caused my trouble. I know Diflucan can mess with your liver, and I was on a high dose continually for several weeks.

I have also read that GSE can potentially increase the level or duration of doxy in your blood. The GSE can possibly attack Lyme cysts. Diflucan can possibly attack Lyme. And the increased doxy could have bothered my spleen/liver. Or the die-off from the 13-day herx could have caused that problem. (These are all rumors I have read somewhere, not research, so I don't know if any or all of these were part of my problem.)

I am mentioning this because maybe it could have been all due to the Diflucan, in which case it's a drug to be careful with, and don't stay on too long at too high a dose.

However, I don't know why they wouldn't give you more than 3 days' worth.

Maybe diet and one or more of the various natural remedies could help you instead. Just be careful with the GSE because that might have contributed to my issues and can interact with some drugs. I don't know yet whether it makes a difference if I take it far away from the other drugs.

There seems to be plenty of places online to buy it without an rx. The generic fluconazole quite a bit cheaper.

My LLMD also does not like to prescribe more than a day or two of Diflucan every now and then because he say's that it's hard on the liver. I'm just trying to prevent problems in the future.

Do you really think they check everyone's bags and purses as they come back on board the ship? I can't imagine them doing that. I haven't been on a cruise in 25 years, but I know they didn't when I went.

I mean, I wouldn't walk back on with a pharmacy bag ..... but a medicine bottle in your purse? How would they even know whether it's a prescription med or not? I could have just as easily been a bottle of meds you had in your purse when you got off the ship.
