I suffered from depression for years before lyme. B-50 complex has been a miracle for me...works better than any antidepressant.

Lately, I have experienced bladder issues. Sometimes I burn and feel like I have an infection. I have not been diagnosed with IC, but not completely ruled out either. I don't notice any foods bothering me, only B-50.

I am currently treating babs with Mepron, plaquenil, and Biaxin.

Is there anything that can prevent Vitamin B from contributing to bladder issues? I have not taken in it 2 weeks and already feeling very depressed. I would almost rather risk bladder issues than deal with the depression.

Dear jennie46,
Are you sure your supplement does not contain yeast? Some B-Vitamins are derived from it. Candida can cause these issues in certain individuals. There are so many places yeast is able to hide. Scrutinizing the source of enzymes and vitamins is often necessary. Who would have thought digestive enzymes would be derived from mold?

Sincerely,
Jin

Jennie,
I've never heard of b50 causing those sort of issues.

Will look it up and let you know.

B 50 definitely makes my bladder irritable and this happens every time I take it. Not sure which ingredient but I have tried different brands and always the same thing. I do know B 12 is not causing it as I take 4 grams of that daily with no problem at all.

I have the same problem. I don't know why it does this.

B Vitamin can be very acidic to the bladder and cause irritation. Make sure you drink at least an 8 oz glass of water when you take them. Also eating alkaline foods like cucumber can help. Check out

It's similar in action to what happens when you eat a banana or yogurt ( if you have bladder issues.. esp IC )

It sort of "wakes up" the receptors in the bladder tissue, making them more sensitive. It has something to do with the amino acids, I believe. (sorry, I can't explain it!!)

Maybe you could try an OTC called "Prelief" and see if it would help.

Or you could buy empty capsules and take 25 mg twice a day?

www.ichelp.org may be able to explain what I was trying to tell you!

I have IC, and can't take B-6 at all!! I can tell within a few minutes if I have eaten something that has been fortified with b6.

That's the only one I know of that has been known to cause bladder pain for people with IC.

I hope you figure it out. Lymetoo mentioned Prelief. That helps me sometimes for certain foods. I would give it a try.

Sometimes you need to take several of them to actually get relief. I've taken up to six at one time.
