Since my infection 5 years ago I live with a major bart & lyme infection. I believe, however, the bart infection is the main problem because the typical skin damages are pretty heavy in my case.
I tried several single drug treatments (rifa, doxy, mino ...), but none of them worked properly. So I wonder if a heavy combination of different drugs would give me a chance.
So which combination would you recommand for a person with bart who wants to get better by all means?
What exactly is the reason to give combinations instead of higher doses at all? Synergistic effects?

Levaquin is the front-line treatment. Heavy stuff. Can cause tendon issues. Read up on it. Also, check out Dr. Burrascano's 16th edition on Diagnostic Hints and Treatment Guidelines, if you haven't read it already. Good luck!

I followed up Levaquin with Rifampin after 12 weeks.
With the Levaquin I took drugs for Lyme and babesia - malarone, lariam, amoxicillin, probenecid, and tindamax.

Dr. S in his book on Bartonella examined several methods of treating this and found that Cumanda had the best success rate but had to be taken in high enough doses.

How high should the dose be? Is it unwise to incorporate this into the middle of a Lyme protocol? Can you treat bart and lyme at the same time?

I'm on biaxin, amantadine and flagyl for my lyme.
I start Levaquin on September 12 and will drop the Biaxin and Amantadine. (it reacts with both)
I will continue my Flagyl pulse and probably go back on 400 mg of Doxy.

Levaquin is first choice IF you can tolerate it as it can cause tendontis and tendon rupture. You should take a lot of magnesium and vitamin C several weeks before you try it and continue while on it (taking it at different times of the day). Levaquin is usually not taken with any other bart drugs but can be combined with drugs for lyme.
Next choice is usually Rifampin which is combined with a macrolide drug like Biaxin or zithromax or roxyithromycin.
Then Bactrim DS combined with a macrolide drug. I found this combo very helpful. Some people have used Plaquenil with a macrolide.
Cipro and Factive are in the same family as Levaquin and are also used to treat bartonella. Factive is also good against lyme.
Dr. S recommends extremely high doses of HH capusles (Zhang) or extremely high doses of Cumanda (Cowden) or clove oil. I tried all of it and relapsed so if you use these I would suggest using them abx. A LLMD told me bartonella cannot be cured with herbs. I would like to hear from anyone that has cured bart with only herbs, no drugs.
You need to address biofilms as well and the amino acid cysteine is used as well as the supplements lactoferrin and nattokinase or lumbrokinase.
Takes a very long time! I know how you feel wanting to just go after it with everything available. I used to think of it as the shock and awe approach - but the little terrorists find a way to survive until the coast is clear.

Phillip, have you been in treatment for bartonella the whole 5 years? I got bart 6 years ago, have been treating it for 3, and it took years to see any changes. I have been taking Rifampin steadily for some time now, and find houttuynia (what's in HH capsules) to be the only effective herbal remedy, but I must take antibiotics as well to keep bart at bay.
I think Nutramedix Banderol is also good. I did not find Cumanda helpful for bart. Clove oil has been slightly helpful too, but really nothing else.

I don't really think it's as important that you have a synergistic combination, as it is just that you find the drug that works for you.
If you haven't tried them, I would try either Levaquin, Factive, or Bactrim DS....each with something else perhaps to prevent resistance.

I am only up to 10 drops 2X day. Hope to work up to 30 per day. I don't incorporate that with any abx, since I am on a herbal regimen. I have heard others say they take it with abx, but I couldn't say which ones.
One of the best herbals I have found to deal with herxes and detox is Burbur and can't say enough about it.

for barts i was on
- factive & bactrim for 6 weeks then - 3 months tavanic+mino+bactrim - 3 months rifampicin+bactrim+ pulsed flagyl and mino
dont know if bart is gone, actually treating babs.
