Just wondering as I start Levaquin mid September. I want to do it to get my Bart and it is the drug of choice...but at the same time I'm a bit scared of tendonitis.

I usually tolerate drugs pretty well. I could take 400mg Doxy on an empty stomach no problems. I didn't burn in the sun. Flagyl has been pretty easy going on me most of the time.

I hope Levaquin will be kind!

I was on it for about 4 mos.

I did/do not have tendonitis on levaquin but had a hard time tolerating it because of dizziness...that said, i took 1/2 dose one week and the full dose the following.

i do this throughout and can tolerate it easier this way.

Good luck!

I had none but I did load up on vitamin c before starting it !

if you know about the tendon issues and your carefull you should have no issues !

I think the benefits outweigh the risk involved.

I was on it a couple of years ago. Used it for two months. I had no problems whatsoever.

I have also used ciprofloxacin for a long time. Also no problems with that.

I took magnesium and calsium supplements. Don't know if that helped but it might. Dr. B. speculated that those could prevent problems. I wasn't on the supplements all the time. It was on/off for a long time. Most of the time I was off.

I took it and it might have caused mild tendon problems for me. My LLMD thinks it was a herx, but I am not sure.

My pain was not in the tendons supposedly most often affected.

I took it for 5 months. The pain went away after I stopped it. I've been off from it for 7 months with no problems.

I would definitely take it again if my LLMD prescribed it again.

There is a lot more to worry about than tendon issues.

Thanks all...I'd love to hear more positive stories.

I know there are risks...but then again I'm more worried about my Bart so I think the risks may be worth it if I take precautions. My LLMD says I'll be on for 1-2 months MAX.

I was spiraling down for 8 months until I was put on Levaquin for 3 months. 5 days on it and I had the first hint of improvement. I did have some tenderness in the achilles tendon area and elbows though these areas had already been affected by the disease. I still have tenderness in the ankle area but have been able to snowboard carefully. I do not think I would have improved at all without it.

No problems here. Terrible herx that included knee pain, but no tendonitis. Saw a lot of improvement with it. I took it for 3 months.

I did quit doing things that might cause injury -- like in weight-lifting I only used machines where before I used free weights. I stopped playing racquetball (don't be too impressed, I'd play my daughter and we didn't keep score, I'd lie down on the floor between "points").
