Well, I think I'm pregnant again. Won't know for sure until this weekend.
I've come a long way in treatment and think I've knocked out most infections in the pat 2.5 years, but I still need to treat during the pregnancy.
Trouble is, I've had c diff in the past so bicillin may not be an option nor ceftin or zith. I'm going to try bicillin to see what happens.

bicillin is probably your best option, usually bypasses the gut.

thanks, lymetoo...I'm so scared I won't be able to treat during the pregnancy. If I can just get that problem resolved I could relax a little.
I know bicillin bypasses the gut, but IV penicillin was supposed to also and I had problems with that one. Thanks for the tip.

Last year when I was pregnant, "the famous Lyme pediatrician" wanted me taking Zithromax with either Ceftin or Omnicef. Amoxicillin is another option, with Zithromax.
I get the sense the Zithromax isn't considered the first line prevention of transmitting Lyme (the drugs like Ceftin or Amox are).... and the Zith is more like the insurance policy. That is the sense I get, but who knows.
I suppose you could try just Zith, but I THINK (don't quote me on this) I did hear of a woman who only took Zith, whose baby tested positive. Pretty sure I read that on PregLyme. But then there are also women who take Amox only whose babies test positive.....so I think if you can, 2 abx is your best bet. (babies getting Lyme when mom is on abx is rare though)
I have also heard Bicillin or course, or even IV Rocephin. I would be a little nervous to have a PICC while pregnant, but supposedly some do Rocephin, so I guess they must be PICC'ed.
There is also Moxatag, which is extended release Amox. I dunno if that would be any easier on the GI for some reason. I have heard extended release prescriptions have phthlates as an ingredient though, which is an endocrine disruptor. So that might be something to investigate. Phthlates are also in fragrances and plastics, I think.

Okay, I may have been wrong about the phthalates.
I think it is that they are found in ENTERIC coatings on pills, not necessarily in "extended release" pills.
The reason I brought it up at all is that you should try to avoid phthalates while pregnant, because there is concern they can affect a developing fetus's genitalia, for males.
Anyways, I almost ordered a product on iherb today that has phthalates in it....Doctor's Best Serrapeptase (check the acronym on the enteric coating)...and then that is when I realized I may have been mistaken about phthalates and "extended release", which would be different than enteric coating, to my knowledge.

Thanks, Molly...I love you too! Yes, hoping for a girl, although another boy would be cheaper since we kept all the boy stuff! LOL!
I'll post the results, we are testing on Friday. That might still be a few days early but my cycle has been between 24 and 28 days the last three months so it's hard to say.

I was on amox and zith through my pregnancy. They did 3 months of amox, 3 months of zith & then anoother 3 months of amox. My daughter is 4 now and so far so good! (knock on everything wood I can find!)
I would like to mention too...I went to the LLMD a couple of months after my daughter was born and they urged me NOT to test my daughter. They said it was entirely possible that she would test positive but (because I was on the antibiotics the whole time) she might never have ACTIVE Lyme. They said unless she ever showed symptoms I would be better off not testing as all that would do would scare me and make me paranoid when there was most likely not problem...

maybe, pj. I've been having a lot of the same symptoms as my last pregnancy but today I have spotting and a negative pregnancy test. It's still a little early but it's looking more negative now.
The thing is, I've not had "period" symptoms before my period in like a year. The only thing I've done differently is take flagyl. I wonder if the flagyl is messing with my hormones, or else my hormones are improving with flagyl and I'm not pregnant at all.
