I just did a search on here about Splenda and think I have the answer to why I'm feeling so lousy.
I have had the following symptoms for several days and they are getting worse: throbbing headache, feels like my blood is on fire, jittery, shaky, very weak and tired, almost feels like low blood sugar, and a funny feeling in my lower belly.
It's not like a herx, its more like feeling toxic.
The only thing that has changed was I changed from organic sugar in my decaf green tea to Splenda about 3 weeks ago. After reading more on here I guess Stevia was what I should have bought.
Does this sound like a reaction to Splenda to anyone? And if so, does anyone have any suggestions on how to get it out of my system faster?
Thanks for any input.

- Certainly could be.
Toss it out. Be sure no pets or wildlife get into it though. You may need to wait to put it in the trash until garbage pickup day.
I would return it to the store for a refund, though. Copy your symptoms above to a note for the store manager.
Yes, Stevia (from a plant), is good. But not all brands are as pure as others. A slick marketing campaign by Truvia covers the fact that it has additives you don't want.
SweetLeaf Stevia is good. They make a liquid and a powder.
Trader Joe's Stevia (powder in a small canister) is also good. -

My husband reacts like that to Splenda and aspartame (Equal).. they are very toxic. My neighbor (down the road) also found out he was reacting to aspartame.
He cut it out and feels 100% better. He also has Lyme.
Get Sweet Leaf stevia... It is the only one I know about that doesn't add a bunch of JUNK to its Stevia.
I now buy mine at Vitacost, where it is cheaper. My local grocery store actually carries it.

I use a small amount of splenda every now and then (like a couple times per month). It doesn't seem to bother me. Maybe it is building up in your system more since you used it every day?
Stevia is a pretty good alternative but you have to be careful not to add too much. A little bit goes a long way! Lesson learned quickly Posted by kidsgotlyme (Member # 23691) on :
I tell anyone and everyone that I know not to touch the stuff!! It's poison!
I would take some charcoal if you're worried about toxins. I hope that someone comes along to correct me if I'm wrong about that. That's what my first instinct would be to take though.

My whole family started having symptoms from aspartame use. I freaked out after researching it...i had been feeding that poison to my 10yo son! No more..he doesnt like stevia so its organic sugar for him. My grown daughters gave it up as well. One is working on her masters and is still trying to get past the brain fog. Shes experienced a number of problems that she thinks is related to artificial sweetners. Shes just now starting detox methods. I wouldnt touch the stuff with somebody elses ten foot pole.

I find all the artificial sweeteners disgusting and toxic. If you really have to have something sweet just have some sugar already. Splenda is nasty stuff, causes diarrhea and a host of other problems. Aspartame, just google it the list is endless. I drink seltzer water with lemon or lime juice and find it delicious! Warning.. I posted several months ago about a new name for aspartame that is coming out soon. So be wary of any "new" artificial sweeteners!
They are so desperate to sell that C*** that they changed the name!!
Sorry.. I can't remember what the new name was! Posted by Marrit (Member # 25454) on :
Potential new name for NutraSweet (aspartame) is "AminoSweet"

I just switched from Splenda to Stevia within the last 3 weeks. I like it better, actually. I never reacted to Splenda in a bad way, but when I eat a fair amount of something with Aspartane, I pass a lot of gas. I mean a lot......our body doesn't recognize it is why. So it reacts by flatulence.
