Hi,

47 year old active & normally healthy woman

History of Hypothyroidism & Celiac Disease

4/10 tick bite in Myrtle Beach, SC while camping with no rash

5/17 negative lyme titer

6/2 ER visit checked for stroke

6/8 diagnosed with Lyme via dr while traveling in VA. Started 100mg Doxy twice per day for 6/8=6/22.

6/28 Symptoms reappeared and have been on 100mg Doxy twice per day since then.

7/27 Saw ID doc and told Lyme is not in SC.

7/28 Saw PCP and given anti-depressants (Haven't taken them)

8/10 Finally found a doc who would order Igenex test (Had been refused by 4 others)

8/20 ER visit with symptoms of heart attack

8/23 Saw Rhemutalogist who is testing for more autoimmune dieases.

8/27 Igenex results show:
Burgdorferi 1.40 Indeterminate
Lyme IgM Western Blot Positive with 3 + and 2 Indeterminate
Lyme IgG Western Blot Negative
Babesia Negative
HME Panel (Ehrlichosis) Negative
HGE Panel (Ehrlichosis) 1.80 Titer for phagocytophilum IgM

8/27 ER visit with intramuscular uncontrollable muscle shaking in both thighs with elevated Pulse.

My symptoms have included: Stiff neck, fatigue, rapid pulse, muscle twitches, stiff knees & elbows, electric current in head, chills with no fever, elevated BP, tingling & numbness in arms & legs, insomnia, headache, & brain fog.

Have cervical c-6 & c-7 compression that "normal" docs think may be the cause and have dismissed the Igenex findings.

Not sure what to do now. Please help!

You need to get to a LLMD (lyme literate medical doctor) ASAP. Go to Seeking a Doctor on this website (look under Questions and Discussions). You might have to travel out of state, not sure if there are any llmd's in SC.

You have Lyme & looks like Erlichia. Do you still have doxycycline??

Agree with skigal - similar scenario as we have all endured. Please find an LLMD ASAP.

I'm still on the Doxy. No LLMD in SC. I'm willing to travel up to the northeast if necessary since I have family in Massachusetts. There is 1 LLMD in NC (4 hours from me), but his website looks a little strange...not to be judgmental.

That would be your best bet, try MA/CT/NH or DC/MD/VA in Seeking a Doctor :-).

I have an ID doc appointment tomorrow. I don't have much hope that he'll address this.

Do IDs acknowledge & treat co-infections? Or will he just dismiss the results since it's from Igenex?

You are wasting your time, ID dr's will most likely dismiss your Igenex test results. You can try, but don't be surprised when they ignore your test. That's why you need to get to a LLMD.

Can either of you recommend your own dr to me? You can PM me.

"Normal docs" don't know anything, as there is a coverup. There is only a 1% chance a positive is false, and in the majority of those cases, the patient has syphilis or something like that.

Depending where you are in SC, there are some good docs in NC that may not be too far.

Most of us have to travel for treatment. I had to fly to NY from Ohio to see my Lyme doctor. See www.underourskin.com for details on the reasons we have trouble getting treatment.

You need to find an LLMD. Please post in seeking a doctor.
