Hi,
I`m having problems with reactive hypoglycemia right now. I had hypoglycemia before; once it was the meds, the other time it was yeast. Now it`s neither. I have been eating low glycemic index foods since the first time this happened about eight years ago, so I`m in very good shape physically. Any ideas? Thanks. K.

Hi Kathi, I'm having this problem right now too. I'm also eating low GI, gluten free/allergen free/refined sugar free foods with at least 10 grams of fat per meal or snack. Does reactive hypoglycemia mean that it happens even right after you eat, and food doesn't help?

For me, I'm having blood sugar swings even 20 minutes after eating. It's awful.

I hope you get some relief soon too.

Maybe adrenal fatigue?

Yes, it means that it`s worse after a meal.
As if there is too much insulin being produced.
I definitely do have adrenal fatigue, but have never heard about it playing a role with hypoglycemia. But there are so many factors to consider with this, hormones, enzymes, mineral deficiencies...I just hoped that with Lyme one is more common than the others so that I would have a point where to start looking.

ask your doctor to see if you may be insulin resistant due to adrenal fatigue.

do you check your blood sugars daily ?

if you do and they are in the numbers range as normal you can add suppliments to your diet that will help! add

cla 1000 mg per day

alpha lipoic acid 100mg 2x per day

vanadyl sulfate 10 mg 2x per day

chromium polynicotinate 200mcg 2x per

these help the cells open up and let the insulin in and be burned at a more controlled rate and it also helps burn any excess belly fat you may have
belly fat is the number one type 2 diabetes producing thing we all should avoid !

I am not a doctor but and I got this info from the mid life miracle diet book and have to tell you it work ! it has for me !

No, I have not checked the glucose levels at this point, at least not at home. Labs did not indicate anything. And with 127 pounds at 5'8" I don`t have much belly fat. What is cla? K.

I agree it could be adrenal fatigue. I have hypoglycemic episodes when my adrenals are out of whack.

kathi cla is conjugated linolic acid !

I got all my suppliments from vitacost !

I'm hypoglycemic as well.

I confused a lot of hypoglycemic symptoms with Adrenal Fatigue and Bartonella.

They all go hand in hand

Yup, I've got hypoglycemia as well. Never had it until I got Lyme. Mine usually strikes in the middle of the night (despite having a protein snack before bed) or in the morning an hour or two after breakfast.

It's awful when it hits--I go from feeling fine to a racing heart in a matter of a minute or two--there's usually almost no warning, and my blood sugar seems to drop like a rock. I actually caught it on my glucose meter a couple of weeks ago--it was 29!

Some of my research says it can be caused by low magnesium, so I've been trying to increase my intake of that. However, I ended up with c-diff and so I'm having to be careful how much magnesium I take so as not to increase my GI problems. I've been using magnesium oil, and that seemed to be helping for a while, but I had an attack in the middle of the night last night and two more this morning, so I just don't know.

I do notice that the worst attacks seem to come around the time that I'm herxing. I've been wondering about why that is--maybe when your body gets overloaded with toxins it has trouble keeping the blood sugar on an even keel.

The joys of Lyme!

BTW--does anyone else get pressure in their ribcage for the rest of the day after a hypoglycemic attack?

Anyone know what causes it?

I believer that over the years I, too, have confused hypoglycemia with Bartonella.

I almost always have low blood sugar on my labs, but I think the bartonella causes that in my case. My adrenal glands are working just fine according to a recent lab test.

I was on Omnicef/Tindamax as well when I had hypoglycemia earlier this year. Back then it was definitely yeast. Right now it`s a bit more difficult to say. I can be perfectly fine for a week and then suddenly have 3 days when the hypoglycemia is really bad. Then it`s quiet again for a while and so on.
