......then it's not working, or I don't have "it" (lyme), need more time, diff. antibx, or what? LLMD gave me Doxycy...(sp?) to start 100mg twice a day, then up to 200 mg twice a day.

Wondering:
1 - when to start taking the 200 2x's.
2 - feeling a bit nauseus, but no other symptoms. I'm assuming nausea is typical of any antibiotic and not a sign that it's working specifically on lyme. Also, don't know yet about coinfections, but I think he said he was leaning toward borreliosis, but with the foot pain, prob./maybe Bart?

Also - (and will call LLMD with these, too), but thought I'd get your opinion.

My hormones were exceptionally low. Due to my cycle, I can't start the progesterone for a couple more weeks. But, LLMD didn't want me to start everything at once so we'd know what was working.

But, he gave me scripts for progest., est., and cortef. Assuming I need all those to feel "better" (his words)...when do I do all that? Which is more important or priority? Gotta call them. it's driving me nuts trying to keep track of everything. (on antidepressants and thyroid, too)!!

Feel like everything is going to get mixed up (due to me) or it's going to cancel each other out.

How do you do it all? And keep track of your symptoms? (esp. since I feel like mine are different each month and diff. week to week) How do you know if symptoms are from antibx., hormones, or lyme?

Just wait. My first herx didn't hit for 24 days. Many get the herx on day 4.

I'd double the doxy right away. It was day 3-5 for me once I coubled the doxy. Also, stay on top of your thyroid, it will help tremendously with the anxiety.

I'll answer your last question first. I don't know and I don't care what's causing which symptom. Usually I figure it out after it's passed.

What's important is to space out the new meds and supplements so you can see if there are any adverse reactions and be able to know right away what's causing it.

As for the doxy dosage: If you don't remember what your llmd said abt when to start taking 200mg/twice a day, call and ask.

As for a herx reaction, mine are and have always been pretty subtle. It doesn't mean it's not working, 3 days is really not much time, and 100mg is a low dose. I think a "typical" time frame is 4 days.

As for the nausea - are you eating something with the doxy? I know it says to take it on an empty stomach, right? You'll need to have a small bite to eat with it. Something to coat your stomach.

And remember your probiotic!

Okay...he did just say give it 3 days or so before upping it. So, guess I'll start the 200 tomorrow. Not hoping for a herx, just hope it's evident that it's working, b/c I'm so tired of not having answers.

So...DO the probiotic, even though he said wait on the yeast protocol? I guess maybe he just meant the diflucan. Guess I'll call.

I know I asked him to go over several times and knew I was getting overwhelmed. I swear I've read his instructions 10 x's!! Just seems to be kind of person-by-person and trial and error. I'm more black & white. Get over it, I guess! [Smile]

I'm with you, tiredmama, give me details!

My LLMD says when starting a new abx -
days 1 - 3 take 1 pill w/ dinner
days 4-6 take 1 pill w/ breakfast & 1 w/ dinner
days 7-9 take 1 w/ breakfast & 2 w/ dinner
days 10-12 take 2 w/ breakfast & 2 w/ dinner
then add the second abx the same way

He totally advocated starting into things slowly.

He also recommends I take everything w/ a meal. I start that way and after a few weeks try w/ less and less food (if the abx calls to take w/out food) and so far my stomach has handled things well.

Yes, start the probiotics like yesterday.

IMHO, the hormone stuff can be started when you feel comfortable with all the rest. The progesterone cream says it takes a few months to start working anyway, so I never feel pressure with that one.

I start out by taking a lined piece of paper and making a chart and use it until I get comfortable on my own.

ie:
waking - prevacid
breakfast - abx
lunch - supplements
dinner - abx
9pm - probiotics
bed - prevacid

Add in the days of the week, the times of day, how many pills as you start out, etc.

You can do it! You'll get it figured out!
If I can do it you can do it! (There, do you believe me now?)

I couldn't live without my chart/checkoff list, LOL! I have a column down the left hand side of a page listing everything I take (in groups according to time of day), with dosages, from morning to night. Then I have columns for each day (14 days on the page) so that I can check off each thing when I take it.

I leave spaces on the chart for when I add something in and so I can write down any changes I made (lower dosage, etc.). So this chart is a record of exactly WHAT I took, WHEN. This helps me later if I need to go back and try to figure out what might be causing a symptom, etc.

The other thing I do is write a daily log in a spiral notebook, where I write down how I'm feeling, what my symptoms are like, what things are worrying me, and anything unusual that happened. At the end of each day I give it a rating: (-) for bad, (o) for okay, (+) for good.

My rating system allows me to understand better how I'm doing--when I can go back and actually count the number of (+) days I had and realize I'm making more progress than I thought. And the notes are really useful for detective work.

The whole thing seems very complicated and overwhelming, but just keep good records as you go, and do one thing at a time and sooner or later you'll feel like you understand what you're doing...well, as much as possible anyway!

You WILL start to see patterns that make sense, once things settle down a bit.
