So..the time has come.

I will be finishing up this month's supply of Biaxin and Amantadine on Wednesday, restarting 400mg of Doxy on Thursday, and taking my first Levaquin on Friday.

What should I expect? I am a bit nerous about the potential tendon issues. But I've been loading up in Magnesium ( 8 Mag-Tab SR's / day) and C (2000mg's of Ester C / day) for the past month.

I'm mainly worried about the Bart herx. I tested borderline for Bart, but believe I have it based on my oriignal (and few remaining, mild) symptoms. I have heard nightmares about the Bart herx.

Any suggestions on how to deal?

B

Epsom salt baths and coffee enemas are how I got through. It's tough .... good luck!!

Personally if this was me I would wait at least a week between restarting the doxy and adding the levaquin.

The funny thing about levaquin -- probably the only med hubby did not have a herx type reaction to -- just felt better and better.

My personal theory is that for him the levaquin was bacteriostatic and not bacteriocidal -- so he was just knocking the load down and not really getting rid of the infection.

Rifampin and Factive each separately and then as a combo were much harder to take but benefits seem more long lasting.

I've been on Levaquin for almost a month now. It has only made me feel better. I've had to stop it a couple times and felt bad again within 24hrs.

I was afraid of it and even had bad prior psych type sx with this whole class of meds in past.
Finally tried it after several months ot other antibiotics and it was easier than most everything else except for the fatigue that happened around 3 wks into it, lasted a week then receded. Did have some minor musculoskeletal symptoms, so I stopped this med after 5 wks and those symptoms went away quickly. I did take magnesium, vit c, and protein supplements along with 1 hr Dr B type Hi rep resistance workout 3x/wk. I plan to go back on it again soon as It helped with Bart and Babs
symptoms in my case. I took doxy and artemisinin along with the levaquin and there did seem to be a synergy for reducing Babs type symptoms in my case.

Everyone is different with the bart herx. I didn't do well, but you could react completely different. Hope you do ok, one minute at a time.

Levaquin was the magic drug for me. I was on it for 6 months and it cleared a lot of the really bad symptoms for me.

Unluckily I still have many small symptoms, that don't seem to be going away, but I'm trying different meds to get them.

If you have any tendom aches at all stop right away and notify your doctor.
