Me, too, Paul....but I am on the Biaxin so maybe that is it. Is it worse when you wake up? Mine is. Let us know what your doc says!

- Could be heavy metals that are being released by lyme die-off.
Various fungal considerations also come to mind.
Mineral deficiencies ? -

I would say it is both -- caused by meds and various toxins mobilized and set into circulation. Detoxification takes place mostly at night and when you finally overcome the "do I want to go on" morning hour, having the funny taste in the mouth is perfectly normal. It's got to come out some place and more so, if your body has trouble to eliminate via different organs.
Take care.

Does it taste like the taste you get when you are coming down with a cold? I've noticed that when I take the antibiotics I get that taste in my mouth later that day and it lasts for a while. Its the exact same taste as when I'm starting to get a cold, or while I have a cold too I guess. Not sure how/why/what. I guess it could be the immune system.

My entire family had this weird taste in our mouths. Most noticeable during/after eating. An almost metallic taste. I thought it may be the water. My mother searched online and found several sites blaming it on pine nuts (pignoli). Which we had just eaten in a dish I prepared. Have you eaten them recently by any chance? Or maybe in pesto?? It can last up to 2 weeks! Very strange.
Love your pics by the way. Be well.

I've been trying to figure out the same thing. I call it a "toxic" or "poison" taste. I've had it off/on for years. Doesn't seem to matter if I'm on/off abx...or what I ate.
What I've determined is I only get this taste in my mouth when I'm really sick, as in a lyme flair. My lyme comes and goes and I know if I start waking up with that yucky taste....I'm about to flare Posted by Keebler (Member # 12673) on :
- Sorry those heavy metal links are no longer working. I'm very burned out now. that's the second major site I often share to have links that are now defunct and I just can't go finding the new links.
So, be sure to search "Heavy metals" in the LymeNet archives. There are many threads - and some excellent links.
It's very important to address. Attention to Heavy metals goes hand in hand with lyme. Borrelia release heavy metals as it dies off. Then it gets reabsorbed into our bodies unless we do something to prevent that.
If you get up in the middle of the night, be sure to rinse out your mouth and also drink a glass of two of water. -
