Target's discount program works if you take a standard dose of a generic drug. For example, My husband recently had Doxy for another reason, 100 mg, 2 x day, 10 days for $4. My generic Ambien, 10 mg, once per night is $5.49 per month. My Metoprolol was $60 through my isurance and $35 through Target. The discounts don't apply with high/non-standard doses of abx. My insurance is good about covering those. So, I use Target's discount when I can, for some of my meds and my insurance for other meds. Target will run it for you both ways and give you the cheaper price. Also, it's free and no big sign-up process.
Another "trick" is to have your dr. write a rx for 90 days. If it's generic, Target will only charge $10 for the 90-day supply and give it to you all at once.
