I am almost completely recovered from lyme, and stopped antibiotics over a year ago. I never took cyst-busters, though.
Now, I'm going to take alinia to fight parasites. Does it seem unwise to take this cyst-busting drug with no other antibiotics to kill whatever might be released?

Who says Alinia is a cyst buster? Never heard this.

Alinia can be taken alone.

I am taking Flagyl alone because of a possible C-diff problem.

That Flagy is working! Yes, without anything to catch those ketes spiraling out of control.

I will take it with something once my gut issues are under control.

I'm not sure if there has been any research documenting Alinia as a cyst-buster, but some doctors suspect that it might be. I've seen several posts on LymeNet about it too.

I'd think it'd be dangerous, as the motiles appear to me more pathogenic than the cysts.

Personally I think combination therapy is a vital key. I think your idea is wise to consider- certainly don't want those cysts to morph into active chetes again w/out anything to knock them out.

My LLMD thinks alinia is a cyst buster - but I am also on doxy 200.
Had to stop after three days because of extreme fatigue.

At the end of my lyme treatment, my now famous lyme doctor had me on flagyl alone for 30 days.

He also began bartonella treatment at that time. So, I was on levaquin with the flagyl. I don't believe levaquin works against lyme. Nothing bad happened to me, treating lyme with just flagyl.

This treatment worked for me. I got rid of lyme, bart, and babs. It's been over 5 years now since I completed my treatment and I am still symptom-free, enjoying my life.

My doc says alinia is a cyst buster. I have been on it twice in past 3 years. Much easier to tolerate than flagyl.

TF. I'm a little confused. You said" you were on Flagyl alone but you also began Bart treatment at the same time"

So, did you take Flagyl alone for 30 days or was it with Levaquin.

Sorry, brain malfunction.

I am on Flagyl alone due to certain circumstances but I still think that it is working and killing the bug.

I do plan on adding another medicine but for now I can only take Flagyl.

I was on flagyl for lyme and on Levaquin for bart all at the same time.

That means that at that time I was treating lyme with just flagyl.

Don't cysts open and revert to spirochetes in the absence of abx?

After over a year off abx, you may not have many cysts to bust...hopefully!
